➭ EXTENDED SUMMARY
maxine mayfield & cooper daniels had been best friends since the 3rd grade. they were inseparable. it's september of 1984 & max just found out that she has to move because of her stepbrother & stepfather. so cooper & max promise to eachother that they'll make the most out of the two & a half months they have left together.
NOTES!
➛ This can be a romantic relationship or friendship.
➛ So the day that Max moves Cooper promises her that he'll be okay without her and that she doesn't have to runaway like she planned.
➛ Based of of the song On My Own by Ross Lynch
➛ So this shows everything that they do before she has to leave. (Ex. Sleepovers, sleeping at the park bc Billy was being an ass, Dancing in his or her room, going swimming, skipping school, skate boarding, staying out all night looking at stars)
➛ Cooper knows he won't be okay when she leaves but he cares about her to much for to runaway and (most likely) get killed.
➛ Cooper & Max are outcasts at school and don't have anybody else but eachother.
➛ If this is romantic (it can be but i feel like it's better as a friendship) then their first kiss should be when Billy is being an ass & Cooper comforts her. Neither of them mention it ever again, even though they think about it.
➛ After she leaves he gets a letter a week later from her, then they start writing eachother. I guess that's when they can confess their love for eachother, in the letters.
➛ Cooper is the only one who gets to call her Maxine. & it's usually if he goes all mom mode on her, or as a joke.
➛ Max is the only one who gets to call him Coop. He hates it but he doesn't mind that she calls him that.
➛ they love eachother unconditionally so their goodbye is very very very very sad. Everyone tears up, even Billy who wiped his tears right away and got in the car.
➛ promise to always be there for eachother, even when they're a million miles apart.
➛ Pinky Promises are a huge thing in their friendship. Liek huge.
➛ Max tries to teach him to skateboard. He fails a lot. Tells her that he promises to practice when she leaves.
