"Sapphire what the hell!" I panicked seeing the little 2 year old spill fruit punch on Kings two thousand dollar rug. Shit shit shit.
To make things even worse, she began to cry and I instantly felt bad. I picked her up and tried bargaining with her
"Yo I'm sorry homie! Please stop cryin. If your momma hears you crying she'll kill my ass!" I bounced her lightly and she stopped crying. I don't know why I volunteered to watch her again. I always do this and she always breaks something and I struggle to find a fix.
"Hello? Yo Rico you still clean carpets? Aight man. I need you to clean Kings carpet before his ass gets home. It's the white one with the crown in the middle" I paused looking at the juice stain that stretched all over the rug
"Umm it ain't that bad" I closed my Motorola razor phone up and began to panic even more. Rico charges an arm and fucking leg to clean these carpets so I have no idea what the hell to do. I sat Sapphire down in her playpen in the living room and put Jojo's Circus on the TV and she babbled to the tv.
I heard a knock on the door and ran to it to see Rico's car outside. I opened the door and he walked in with his machines and laughed when he saw the rug
"You stupid bitch! Look at what you did!" He held his stomach as he laughed but I didn't find shit funny
"Bitch fix the carpet before king gets here with Rose. He will kill everyone in sight for this." He really would. He be shooting for sport
"Aight aight. This gonna cost you a band" I nodded and took a stack from my pocket. I had just got my pay, but this needs to be fixed
"Aight man, go relax, I got you" I nodded and said thanks and went to the living room to see the baby sleeping in the playpen.

4 hours later
Midnight
Rico left and the baby woke up and I was playing with some lil jumbo building blocks with her. The carpet was dry and clean so I felt a weight off of my chest. Yeah it was his kid that made the mess, but he gets angry so fucking easily that I wouldn't even take the chance.
The door opened and king came in laughing with his hand over Rose's waist. Rose was Sapphires mom.
"Hey Lip, thanks for watching the baby for us" Rose sat down and I smiled at her
"No problem boss lady" I turned to King, "I'll be in tomorrow for the meeting" he nodded at me and I turned to the baby
"Bye lil mamas" I pinched her cheeks and she giggled at me
"Bu- bu- medow" I laughed and hugged her and put her back to play. That little girl couldn't say my name at all. My name's Marvin and she calling me Meadow? It's cute I guess.
"Later y'all" I walked out and walked to my black 1999 Honda Accord and started up the car. The radio was playing in da club by 50 cent and I nodded as I was driving home. I stopped at a red light and saw two black vans stop on both sides of me. I went to drive forward but another one swerved in front of me and one case up behind me. I pulled out my gun but they all had machine guns, so it wouldn't make sense.
Two guys hopped out of the first one and then more came out the rest. It was about 15 Latin Kings and I was out numbered.
"Aye ese! Come out and play!" One of them called to me and I shook my head
"Nah I'm good!" I said through my cracked window and rolled it back up. I rolled it back down a little and put my mouth to it, "Hey can y'all move though? You're kinda blocking me!" One of the guys laughed, and the dude in the front punched him in his mouth.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" He turned back to my car and walked over. He smashed the window for the driver side and pulled my ass out. I shot at him and it hit him in his side and he hissed
"You fucking idiot!" He threw me to the ground and the guys began to kick and stomp on me
"Tell me about King! I want his girl and his kid. Imma make his girl my bitch and his kid can be my foot stool" he laughed and my blood boiled. I was on the ground but said nothing. He would never get his hands on Sapphire
"What's her name again? Ruby? Diamond? Glass?" The men with him began to laugh but wasn't shit funny. He had the sense of humor of a fucking pencil.
"Nigga you ain't even funny" I coughed blood out and spit it on his gold shoes and he got pissed
"Tell me where they live!" He shouted in my face and I said nothing.
"Cat got your tongue? Well lemme show you something" I began to kick and fight against them but it did nothing. All of them came and held me down as he grabbed his knife. One of them forced my mouth open and he cut my tongue out
"Now I got your tongue!" He laughed and I choked on blood. He threw it along with the knife down next to me and I laid there. They drove off but I was in so much pain I couldn't move.
Me protecting Rose and the baby resulted in my tongue getting cut out. I laid there on the cold ground for what felt like hours before a Prophet came down the same road and brought me to the hospital. King ended up killing all of the guys who did this to me and told me he would forever be greatful. Rose left and tried taking sapphire but king said if she did, he would kill her. So she left the baby, but she should've taken her. She could've had a better life.
It took me months to fully learn sign language and I taught Sapphire it as I learned. She was one of the only people that could communicate with me, she became my best friend.
