[Rayne]

Sam and Dean were both on their third bowls of chili. My mom and I were silently betting that Sam would out-eat Dean by one. The two of us had finished our one bowl and were sitting back and watching the Winchester brothers in reverent admiration.

"Rayne?" she suddenly said to me.

"Mother," I acknowledged, not tearing my eyes away from the circus in front of me.

"Should we set up a camera? Maybe we can make some money off of this; I bet people would pay big money to watch them."

"We can call it: The Bottomless Pit Brothers."

"Luna, this is the best damn chili I have ever had," Dean garbled with a full mouth.

My mom laughed in delight. "Oh, it's my pleasure, boys. I haven't had this many mouths to feed in a while. I forgot how rewarding it is...or how entertaining!"

Sam gave her a sheepish smile. "It's just that, we don't have many home cooked meals with our job."

My mom's eyes narrowed as she studied them. "Right," she drawled. "You and Dean are hunters, correct?"

They both nodded their heads, not willing to part with their food.

"And how did you come across my daughter?"

"By her butt," Dean instantly replied, his voice muffled by beans.

I felt my cheeks redden. "My car broke down; they came to help," I hastily explained, grateful when my mom decided to ignore Dean's comment.

"Well, isn't that a coincidence...that two hunters just happened to stumble upon you, I mean?" she pondered aloud.

Sam and Dean shared a quick glance while stuffing their mouths.

"I'm glad they did," I said rather defensively. I couldn't imagine spending the rest of my life not knowing the truth about my family.

Sam ended up eating a fourth portion and Dean declined his. My mom and I fist bumped in celebration, laughing at their confused expressions.

"Well, boys, why don't the two of you tackle the dishes, and then we can have some of that pie that Dean seems to be so excited about," my mom suggested, winking at him.

"I will clean your entire house for a slice of that pie, Luna," Dean assured her.

"I would take him up on that offer," Sam said, looking at my mom. "He's not kidding."

"Do you know the amount of power you're holding in your hands right now, Mom?" I asked.

She laughed while Dean glared at his brother and I.

Mom and I ended up sitting in the backyard, drinking some lemonade, while Sam and Dean cleaned up inside. It was getting dark and some stars were beginning to make their nightly appearance in the sky. I inhaled deeply, feeling truly calm for the first time in days. Yeah, everything was in the crapper, but I was at home, drinking lemonade with my mother, and enjoying the fresh air.

"I missed you, Mom," I said without looking at her, but I saw her smile from the corner of my eye.

"I missed you, too." She took my hand in hers, giving it a gentle squeeze. "I have a feeling I'll be missing you again real soon."

I turned to her in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"What's going on between you and Dean?" The glint of amusement was evident in her eyes.
