Prologue: Post Break Up

Bella

Today has been six months since they left and today is the day my dad is taking me to New Orleans to show me a house I was left. I'd been drawn to New Orleans from the time I came out of my zombie mode, but I wasn't sure what was drawing me there.

"Bells, are you ready?" My dad calls up the stairs.

"Yes, but why didn't you tell me about the house before now?" I ask, as I go down the stairs.

"It wasn't time and on your birthday it didn't end well so I waited. You went into your zombie mode and I didn't know what else to do. Billy asked if I still had mom's will and I did so I looked. I saw that the house was indeed in your name. All we have to do is go down and see if it's the place you want to be. If not, there is another house for you in Mystic Falls, Virgina," he tells me.

"Billy? Why were you talking to Billy? I thought the two of you weren't speaking since Jake stopped talking to me and Billy blamed me for it," I say.

"Bells, he cares about you, but things aren't going so well with him," he says.

"Are we going over there?"

"Billy would like for us to come over before heading out, but I will understand completely if you don't want to," he tells me.

"I want to, but I really don't want to see Jake. He doesn't want to talk to me and I really don't want to talk to him anymore," I say.

"I'm sure we can do it without seeing Jake. If we do see him you don't have to talk to him if you don't want to." He looks at me.

We get in the car and head over to see Billy. As we pull up Jake and the rest of the pack come out of his shed. I get out and walk straight into the house. I didn't stop to talk to them and I didn't look at them as I made my way in. Billy is sitting in the living room watching an old game on the television.

"Is it true Bells?" He asks looking at me.

"Yes, it's true. I'm not sure if I'll be staying and having dad send me my things or if I'm going to come back to pack my things. If I stay you will be the first one I call. If you ever, and I mean ever, need a getaway let me know. I'm sure I'll have room for you," I tell him.

"Is it because of them?" He asks.

"Not entirely, but some. Your son also has a huge part in me leaving. I'm sure you heard what happened between us," I say.

"Billy, can you believe my little girl may be leaving me," My dad says, coming into the room followed by the pack.

"Nope, and I don't want to talk about it," he says.

"If I move, are you coming to visit on Christmas?" I look at my dad.

"Yes, I will be coming down to visit every chance I get," he says looking at me.

"Then, you will be coming with him. I'm not saying goodbye, because that isn't what this is. I will see you in a couple months," I tell him.

I hug him tightly and leave the house before I start crying. Jake follows me, even after Sam tells him to leave me alone, and I slam the door before he could talk to me. I put my head in my hands and started to cry.

"Talk to me, Bells," he says through the window.

I shake my head and my dad comes out of the house. He gets in and asks if I'm sure I want to make the long drive. I tell him it may be months before I see him, so I would like the time to spend with him. He tells Jake he'd see him in two weeks. I close my eyes and lean back in the seat hoping the tears wouldn't betray me.

It takes two days to get to New Orleans and that is stopping at night. We pull up to the house and I smile. We see a package sitting on the porch next to the door. No one knew we'd be coming here. I hear a little voice in my head tell me that Alice has seen one of my decisions after all.

"Looks like you have some neighbors afterall," my dad tells me.

I look where he is pointing and see two men standing across the street watching us. He smiles and waves at them and I shake my head before walking into the house. As I turn to say something to my dad I see the one wearing a leather jacket watching me.
