Chapter 8: Icky Vicki

Bella

I wake up in a room I don't recognize. I feel someone in the bed next to me and I whip around to see Nik lying there sleeping. I lay back down and try to think of how I got up here. A knock on the door wakes Nik, as I hear him growl, and I hear someone on the other side of the door laughing. I smile and move to see Nik looking at me with a smile.

"Morning, love," he says.

"How did I get up here? The last thing I remember is passing out when Elijah told me what happened. Is my dad okay?" I ask.

"Your father is perfectly fine. He is downstairs with Freya and Kol eating breakfast as we speak. Hayley, do you have a reason to be waking me this early?" Nik looks at the door.

"Your daughter would like to see you," Hayley says through the door.

"Send her in," Nik says with a slight smile.

Hope comes running into the room and jumps on the bed. She climbs on top of Nik and goes back to sleep on his chest. He shakes his head and looks at me with a smile on his face. I smile at the sight of the two of them and there's a knock on the door. Nik sighs and I tell him I'd get it.

"Hey, I brought you some clothes. They should fit you, but if they don't it'll work until we can get some of your clothes," Hayley says.

"Thanks. How is my dad holding up?" I ask her.

"He's good. He thinks you're sleeping in the other guest room. Is Nik decent?" She asks, raising her eyebrows.

"Yes, he's decent. You do realize nothing happened, right?" I ask teasingly.

"Nik, I'm coming in," she says and I move out of her way.

Nik points to a door and says, "the bathroom is through that door. I'll be here when you get out."

I walk into the bathroom and almost don't want to leave. I get dressed in the clothes Hayley let me borrow and walk back into the bedroom. Nik is sitting on the end of the bed and Hope is nowhere to be seen. Nik notices me looking around and tells me Hayley took Hope to get her dressed. He asks if I'm ready to head downstairs to see my father. I nod and ask him what we were going to tell him.

"Elijah has told him that someone busted his bedroom window last night. We brought him over here after my insistence," he says.

"Don't we have a problem when he goes back to the house and sees that the window is perfectly fine?" I ask.

"Kol took care of that. I will personally replace the window in the room," he tells me.

I shake my head because I was going to have to get used to having things done to prove my lies. Nik takes my hand and we walk out of his bedroom; we head down the stairs and I see my dad sitting in the family room talking to Marcel and Elijah. He smiles when he sees me and I give him a small wave. Marcel and Elijah turn to see me and Nik standing there.

"Morning, Isabella, brother," Elijah says.

"Good morning, Nik and Isabella." Marcel nods towards us.

"Morning," Nik says.

"How are you doing kiddo?" My dad asks.

"I'm good. Sorry you woke up in a strange house, but Nik insisted that we stay here," I tell him.

Nik

"What happened?" Mr. Swan asks.

"We were getting ready to watch a movie when I heard a crash from upstairs. Nik was already up in your room by the time I got up there. The window was shattered, so Nik went outside to check around the house and there wasn't anything or anyone. We're not sure what happened," Isabella lies to him.

"We can't really tell if something was thrown in the room from outside or if something was thrown from in the room outside." I look at him.

"Was there glass on the inside?" He asks.

"There was glass in the grass and in the bedroom." I tell him.

"Nik, we've got a problem," Kol says coming into the room.

"Elijah, would you escort them home so they can gather their things. I want them to stay here until whoever did that is caught. I will catch up with you later, Isabella," I say looking at her.

"Actually, I'm leaving today, so it'd be just Bells here staying. I'd really like to get my things though," he says.

"I guess, I'll be back in a few with my things. I would like to spend the day with my dad before he leaves," she tells me.

"Mr. Swan, it was a pleasure to meet you and I can promise you that Isabella will be safe here. I will take it as a personal thing to keep her safe and protect her like I would my own family," I say with a smile.

"Call me Charlie, Nik. I'm glad my daughter has made friends that will watch out for her since she's new around here, We'll spend the day together and I'll bring her back here before I leave," Charlie says.
