Present day 2015, after the events in Avengers:Age of Ultron.

You sat quietly on the couch with a bowl of cereal in front of you. You had the news on the TV about the battle that happened in Sokovia, which you couldn’t attend of course.

Your dad would say something along the lines of ‘Young lady I would never let you risk your life, blah blah blah, you’re too young, blah blah blah, etc.’ he’s so overprotective. You couldn’t blame him though, you were his only child after all.

You sighed and shoved another spoonful of cereal into your mouth. Sometimes you wished you had super powers so your dad would consider letting you be a hero like the rest of them, life got boring just sitting around worrying about if they’d come home safe or not.

This time they even recruited someone who was young, AKA Wanda. She’s not that much older than you, and she’s very nice. Not a lot of them trust her since she’s new, but you enjoy her company.

Turning your head back to the TV, you grabbed the remote and shut it off. It’s too late now, what’s done is done. You heard footsteps approaching, most likely Steve. He’s always up around the time you are to make food or go for a run.

He was like an uncle to you in a strange way, even the rest of the avengers were like family. Steve, Clint, Sam, Bruce(who was currently MIA), Rhodey, Thor(who’s also MIA on Asgard), and Phil. Well, Phil wasn’t there all of the time, but he was still like family. Your aunt was Natasha, and you considered Wanda like a cousin. Clint’s kids were also like your cousins too. And of course mom and dad are Pepper and the one and only Tony Stark.

“Hey kid. What’s got you up?” Steve asked interrupting your thoughts about your strange family tree.

“Steve, you ask me that every morning. We wake up at the same time. Besides, it’s later than you usually wake up, what got you to sleep in?” You asked, turning the conversation on him.

“I was thinking of trying one of those cheat day things. I’m not gonna do any exercise or work, I’m just gonna relax.” You burst out laughing, and he got confused.

“What (Y/n)?? What’s funny?”

“You? Relax and not train all day? I think it’s impossible for Steve Rogers to take a break.”

“Oh really? I can take a challenge! Bring it on then. I’m not gonna do anything at all today!” He said while pulling out ingredients to make breakfast.

You walked into the kitchen and squeezed past him to rinse out your cereal bowl and carry on with your morning.

Before you could sneak back past him to leave the kitchen, he turned around and squeezed you tightly in a bear hug. You struggled in his grasp for a minute before sighing, accepting it, and hugging him back.

“Why do you always do this Steve!” you yelled, muffled by his big chest. You sniffled your nose.

“Are you crying? Am I that bad a hugger?” He stuck out his lip in a pout.

You pushed him away and yelled, “The food Steve! It’s-it’s burning!”

He gasped and turned around to deal with the situation, AKA breakfast burning on the stove. You left the room since it was hard to breathe, from the smoke and from Steve squeezing the live out of you.

As you hurried down the hallway to the elevator, other members of the team were heading the opposite direction to see what the smoke was from. You hopped on the elevator and quickly got the doors closed so no one else would get on.

You sighed and stepped back, and the hair on the back of your neck stood up when your father said, “Did Steve burn breakfast again?” In your head, all you could think was ‘shit shit shit shit shit how did I not notice my own DAD shit shit shit’ over and over.
