Your eyes opened but just barely. You were so tired, but at least you had a nap. A very long one at that. It was a bit after noon when you knocked out? And now it was dark.

You aimlessly felt your big bed for your phone. Curse you dad for giving me the biggest bed ever! You thought. Ah! Yes! Found it! You picked it up to check the time, and the bright screen blinded you almost.

Right before midnight, how wonderful, an 11 hour long nap.

“Friday, turn on my lights please? But not too bright, I’m still waking up.”

“Of course, (Y/n).” the AI voice responded.

She came in handy a lot. Thank Thor your father was a billionaire genius. You gathered fresh undergarments from your drawers and got prepared to take a shower. You sat in there for a while after getting clean just thinking.

You stepped out and looked in your mirror, the steam blurred your face. It’s how you felt too. Blurry, like everything was cloudy. You sighed, slipping on clothes. You ran a brush through your (h/c) (h/l) hair.

It was say, 1 am to 2 am when you got out the bathroom. You liked to take your time getting dressed and such, besides it’s not like anyone else was up to yell at you for taking a while. You put on warm socks and a hoodie to make your way down to your father’s lab. Or workshop if you will.

Knock knock. You’re fist made a noise while you popped your head in to see where he was.

He said something about updating some tech around the tower and some gear for the team. Only if you had access to his stuff, you could make your own suit, with all those cool things you had made blueprints for.

“Dad? You up? Or am I talking to myself?” you spoke into the workshop.

“Over here my little starlight! I was just grabbing some materials for something, come in and sit.”

Once he reappeared, you gasped. He looked terrible, he needs sleep. He’s just too stubborn to persuade.

“Dad? I can go if you want, you seem really tired, you should-” he cut you off.

“No, sit. I’ll go to bed after we talk, I promise.” You sat in your usual spot at the workbench.

You pretty much went over all the stuff you talked to Steve about yesterday. And then some.

“You said you’re sad all the time it feels like?” He asked, his voice got lower and lower as he spoke.

“Yeah, why?”

“Well, I mean, I got into MIT and partied and did all kinds of crazy stuff when I was barely 15, like you. It was how I coped. What you’re saying seems like early depression? But I’m sorry I haven’t been there, especially after..Sokovia. I’m so sorry.”

“Dad. What really happened there, in-in Sokovia I mean?” You asked. You had a weird feeling, like very strong deja vu. You ignored the feeling and listened in.

“Honey, it was bad. We tried to save as many as we could, but it’ll always be on my mind. Ultron, he, he ripped us apart so easily and got in our heads.” He went on describing everything.

By the end you were both crying and hugging.

“Let’s make a pact, dad? No more secrets or anything of the sort. Alright?” you asked.

“Agreed, (Y/n), agreed.”

After that you just watched him work, it was a bit calming for both of you. You missed having him around, he always gets ripped right out of your grasp once you barely get a hold of him again. You started crying just thinking of all the times growing up you thought he was gone, and you’d never see him, ever again.

“What’s wrong hun?” He asked with a worried tone, turning off whatever he was working on.

“I miss you dad.” you choked out between sobs.

“I’m right here, what do you mean?” He moved closer to you.

“E-everytime I think you-you’re safe and home a-again y-you have to g-go. Like in 2012, 2013, or a-any other time you do something w-with the team. I just want you h-home.” you calmed down before getting into any other instances.

“I, I’m sorry starlight. I’ll make sure to always be here ok? You’re my daughter! I’m always supposed to make sure you’re okay before I make sure the world is okay. I’m sorry..” he hugged you and rubbed your back.

“Why do, why do you call me s-starlight?” you asked holding him tight, afraid the world would steal him again.

“Because you’re like a big star, my sun. You’re what gets me up in the morning, and what keeps me motivated. The light of my life. My starlight, the reason I fight to come home from missions.” You’re deja vu was kicking in again. You ignored it again.

“Thanks for reminding me dad.” You stepped back and looked at the reactor on his chest. He hated that thing, but you loved it. It meant he was still alive.

You put your hands on his chest, and took your hands to make a heart shape around the arc reactor. He looked at you and sadly smiled.

“I know you hate this thing so much. But I love it, dad. It means you’re here to protect me, it’s comforting.” You looked up at him.

“Well then, it gives me a reason to love it. From now on when I look at it, I’ll think about you waiting for me. It’ll make the fight even more worth it.” God, was he trying to make you cry?

Before saying anything else, you’re vision went blank, and you saw the scene before you, of your dad, and of something, happening?

But you couldn’t tell what. Your vision went back to normal and you looked your father in the eyes as you staggered back and fainted. The last thing you saw was Tony’s even more worried face and then black.
