When Voldemort came to Grindelwald looking for information about the Elder Wand, the old wizard first thought that it was some sort of sick joke. He could not understand how a wizard who was so apparently powerful, did not understand the nature of the Elder Wand and that Albus Dumbledore was the possessor of it.
