Chapter 2: He was done

His smile faded as soon as his friend left his house.

The daily check ups they did were daily torture to him.

He slowly slid down his door, breaking into uncontrollable sobs.

The pain he felt was becoming more and more unbearable day by day.

His chest felt heavy and it stung every time he took a breath, it was as if his body was too, asking for a break from life—a permanent break.

He cried silently.

He cried for his life.

Not because he hated it.

No, he just didn't want it anymore.

He didn't want anything to do with it no more.

He was done trying. He was done. He was done.

Pain consumed him slowly.

Little by little he was becoming someone else.

Someone who he never thought he'd be.

Someone opposite from what he was.

He was so happy all the time.

Now he forces his smiles for his friends.

Oh, his friends.

How'd he miss them.

How'd he miss his father.

With shaky hands, he opened the box that had been under his bed for months, waiting to be opened, waiting for its contents to be used.

He grabbed the gun shakily but determinedly.

"See you soon, sister.." he whispered.

But his plan backfired when one wrong move made the gun go off, a small hole was now in his roof.

He heard thundering footsteps coming to his room.

He cried even more.

He was caught.

His opportunity was gone.

"What are you doing?!" His father shouted slamming open his door and taking the gun from him. "Give me that! What were you thinking?!"

"I..." he started. "I wanted to see Jihee, again. I don't want to be here anymore, I want to go with Noona."

His father's eyes softened and immediately embraced the sobbing boy into a warm hug. He let him calm down before calling an ambulance to make sure he was alright.

He felt dumb for not knowing of his son's thoughts sooner. For not finding the gun sooner. For not showing his love to him sooner.
