"But... How are you..." I blabbered, before the hooded figure.
"No, time for that now, it's almost midnight," Mira said to me,
"What happens at midnight?" I asked, to her before she could answer, we all felt the sudden rumble of the ground,
I looked out to the nearest window and noticed we were rising up,
"Why are we rising up?" I asked, looking around the group,
"Let's hope that thing is going to explain," Laxus said, pointing to a gigantic hologram of a pumpkin through the balcony doors,
We all run to the balcony and listened to the what pumpkin had to say,
"ATTENTION ALL CONTESTANTS PARTICIPATING IN THIS YEAR'S GRAND MAGIC GAMES, GOOOOD MORNING! TO NARROW DOWN THIS YEARS 113 GUILDS IN THIS YEARS GAMES TO A MORE MANAGEABLE EIGHT, LET'S BEGIN THE PRELIMINARY ROUND!"
A preliminary round?, "113 Guilds that seems more than I remember" Laxus muttered,
"Maybe some guilds were like us and entered two teams?" I suggested,
"ALTHOUGH THE NUMBER OF GUILDS THIS YEAR INCREASE AND MULTIPLY EACH YEAR, THE GAMES HAVE GOTTEN BORING NOW IS ALL I EVER HEAR, LET'S WIGGLE THEM DOWN I SAY TO YOU AND JUST GIVE EIGHT A CHEER. THE RULES OF THIS PRELIMINARY ROUND ARE SIMPLE, NOW YOU ALL WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN A RACE, THE FINISHING LINE IS AT THE DOMAS FLAU COLOSSEUM, ONLY THE FIRST EIGHT TO REACH WILL MOVE ON TO THE GRAND MAGIC GAMES!"
As the pumpkin was saying these words, the Inn continued to rise until it was at least 200 metres off the ground. A cobbled stone path started appearing before us leading towards a now formed, spheric maze.
"YOU'RE FREE TO USE MAGIC AS YOU SEE FIT THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS, BUT REMEMBER ONLY THE FIRST EIGHT TEAMS TO REACH THE FINISH LINE WILL CLEAR THIS ROUND! HOWEVER, ALL FIVE TEAMMATES MUST CROSS THE GOAL FOR IT TO COUNT, ONE MORE THING WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OF LIFE THAT OCCURS IN THE LABYRINTH"
That's a bit dramatic, "SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADO LET THE GRAND MAGIC GAMES PRELIMINARY ROUND, SKY LABYRINTH BEGIN!" The Pumpkin yelled, before disappearing into thin air.
So the aim of this is to be the fastest teams to get to to the Colosseum, seems simple enough,
"Come on, we need to get moving, it is a race after all" Mira called to us, running down the path.
Laxus and Gajeel quickly followed her lead down the cobblestone path, leaving Mystogan and me at the back,
"Mystogan, what are you doing here?" I asked as we ran,
"Uhh, Eilora... I'm not.." He tried to confess as we sprinted along the stone path
"You're not him, are you? You're Jellal" I said sadly,
The hooded man nodded, before looking back forward, towards the labyrinth,
I knew I shouldn't have got my hopes up, if I have just listened to my powers, I would have realised sooner...
'Mystogan' and I quickly caught up with the others and we all ran until we reached the entrance of the maze,
Once entering the labyrinth, we noticed how hard this was really going to be, The endless number of paths were everywhere, up and down and at every angle, a gigantic 3D maze. It felt as if we have just fallen down the rabbit hole and into Wonderland.
