Slender, pale fingers twisted and turned the holographic display before them, before tapping upon a spot amongst the projection. The images, an scattering of strangely shapes, was suddenly enlarged tenfold then tenfold again after another spot was tapped. Tiny chips and filaments appeared in holographic form, neatly displayed and forming a tight circuit that would cause a function, but what that function was, only those trained in microbotic engineering could guess.
"Ah!"
In a eureka moment, the owner of those attractive, agile fingers identified what it was he was looking for and he carefully voiced a list of instructions out loud. Minute alterations occurred upon the circuit board, before it shrank into a much smaller form and was reunited with other holographic components, still floating on display. And suddenly, each piece came together to produce a sphere with one large framed eye and a smaller black eye just above it.
"Set the printer in order to produce the prototype."
"Yes, sir," came a slightly monotone voice without apparent body of origin. "Sir, you have a Commander Hunt attempting to engage communications."
"Again?" The man blew a few curls that had fallen across his forehead aside, before saying aloud; "Send him a message that unless he wishes to speak to me about something other than military contracts, I won't be answering his call. Do I have any appointments today?"
"An appointment with the bank to discuss reviewing the terms of the last loan," the voice replied, without inflections to suggest any opinions. "And a dinner date with Mr Harris and the young Master."
Orion grimaced, not regarding the latter, more about the former. Now he recalled. The bank had supposedly been bought out by some conglomerate and were apparently reviewing all of their clients financial business. In other words, he was making money and they wanted more of it. However, he was not an idiot, his lawyer had already reviewed all of his paperwork for loopholes when signing that last loan, the one that just happened to have been necessary to buyout the bankrupt entertainment company so that he could take the Archive into protective custody.
"Contact my lawyer," Orion told his A.I. "Ask him if he is available to join me during that meeting." The A.I was one that he had created himself during his university years. He was a genius, but his time-keeping was appalling; late for lessons, late for appointments, forgetting to eat, to meet with friends... but it wasn't as if he could afford an assistant at that time and diaries only worked when you opened the application to add reminders and set alarms.
At first, the A.I was simply an improved version of a commonly used diary application, one that could hear and recognise when he made appointments and record them without being asked. It also set up alarms for three meal times, unless there was an appointment made that altered the meal time. The A.I was tweaked and upgraded several times as well as a learning program added to make it more efficient. Now, it was all that he needed in a personal assistant and secretary. It was not anything as advanced as the Master nor even Yin and Yang, but it was definitely comparable to the handful of A.I's used in key areas of the Union.
A few minutes later the A.I confirmed that his lawyer could indeed attend and promised to meet him outside the financial institution five minutes before the meeting began.
Orion instructed the A.I to upload all relevant documents regarding the loan onto his handheld, before yawning as he sat back in his seat. Suddenly the A.I called out an alert; "Sir, Mr Harris will be arriving in one minute to speak with you about an urgent matter."
"He has free access as usual," Orion frowned, wondering what it was his beloved hubby wished to speak with him about.
His dark eyes wandered towards the door, which slid open at the given moment to reveal a man that took almost two thirds of the entry space with his magnificent frame. Orion inwardly sighed, he never got tired of viewing the delectable specimen of manhood that was his husband. Before Damien came into his life, albeit as a soul wrapped in a body of data, he never thought he'd wed and bed a man and now he could not imagine life without him. Damien had admitted that he was bisexual, but had leaned towards women before Orion, but none had caused the possessive streak that Orion had awoken in him.
