When The Sun Falls

When the sun falls and breaks
And the shards of light are scattered.
We'll watch them disperse into the shadows
And see the darkness shatter.
The world will become a kaleidoscope
Of black and grey and white.
The painting we are bathed in
Is a masterpiece of light.

When the sun falls and melts
And we swim in golden glows,
The fire will burn our insides
And our outsides, and our souls.
In the pools of yellow,
Our carcasses will drift
Mutilated and blackened.
Our spirits leave and lift.

When the sun falls and and combusts
And explodes, beautiful and deadly,
The roar of its destruction
Is naught but a lilting melody.
We'll escape our rotten lives
With a sudden burst of light.
And float away into the nothing
Of a cold and quiet night.

When the sun falls and dies
In the fragment of a moment,
It'll remember the world it left behind
And will shrivel, hurt and spent.
In the scene of our demise,
The darkened spectre calls,
And we will be shrouded in white
When the sun gives up and falls.
