Y/N was not your average hobbit. She longed for adventure, to see and experience every wonderful or risky thing Middle Earth had to offer. So when she was invited (although quite by mistake) on a quest to reclaim a troupe of dwarves' lost home, she quickly agreed. To her dismay, the leader of the noble Company she had joined seemed inclined to distrust and doubt her, despite her many attempts to win his good graces.

Then the orcs attacked. Right after the group escaped from the goblins, how utterly annoying. Cornered in the branches of tall pine trees, the dwarves and the hobbitess prepared to meet their doom at the hands of Azog the Defiler, who seemingly had returned from the dead. They all watched in horror as Thorin charged forward, blinded by fury at the monster, and was sorely beaten. Y/N gathered up every ounce of strength and bravery she had in her small body and leaped out of her tree with a fierce cry, defending her fallen leader. When the eagles came, she was exhausted and trembling, but still did not back away until he was saved. The eagles brought them all to a high rock spire and laid Thorin down gently on the stone. He groaned and managed to stand, turning to Y/N.

She was about to give up, almost in tears, as she bravely looked Thorin in the eye. Just as she was sure he was about to command her to go home, he suddenly began shaking and hurried forward to wrap her in a fierce hug.

"I'm sorry I ever doubted you."

She simply smiled and accepted the hug, happy he'd come around at last.
