Chapter One: See You Again

The rain poured down on the bus stop, I hugged my knees to my chest, not caring much about the rain running down my clothes and hair.

I had another fight with my foster parents and brother and I stormed out the house on them. They won't find me here. Not for a while. I could have went to my friend, Alexis', place.

She lives in a scrapyard, or an antique yard, as her father calls it, with her brother, Russell.

But I didn't want to bother them with my problems. I didn't want to be a burden. I looked down at my watch.

The light beamed in my eyes and it read 8:32pm. I didn't move at all, I just went back to hugging my knees. There was no traffic on the street I was on. There's not much at all during the nighttime. So it was quiet, and empty.

Well, at least I thought it was quiet.

"Skylar.." I jumped in my seat, standing straight up and looking around. I heard it! I heard the voice and it was right near me, too!

I looked at the glass, knowing that's where normally where I would see who spoke the voice on, but I didn't see anything. I looked everywhere, but no sign.

"Skylar.."

There it goes again! I searched everywhere until I looked down. Down there in the puddle of water was Optimus Prime. I gasped softly, my eyes laid wide as I saw him. This was the first time he showed himself to me in public.

He showed up on my mirrors, the windows in my room, and even on my phone screen. But never in public.

"Optimus?" I asked speechlessly as I knelt down on the ground. "It's..it's good to see you."

"And you as well, Skylar. But I'm afraid I cannot maintain my presence for long." Optimus spoke boldly as I nodded in understanding. "A new mission is at task. For Bumblebee. I need you to find him, along with Alexis. Then, we shall meet again."

And with that, a car went by, the puddle splashing my clothes as it did.

"Optimus!" I looked back down at the puddle and saw that he wasn't there anymore. I sighed sadly as I hugged my jacket close to my body and walked away.

Not towards my foster home where they never will treat me as an equal. But to my best friend and her family. The Clays.

-

"Hey, Dad? Does this go here?" I heard as I entered the scrapyard. I saw my friend, Alexis, flying in the air, with a huge refrigerator in her hands, towards another aisle. "Great. Thanks to Dad's crappy music blasting in his ears, now I have to figure out where this goes!"

"It goes over there." I said as she gasped in realization. "That's right! It does! Thanks, Skylar. You were a big hel-"

She stopped mid-sentence, slowly turning around and meeting my eyes.

"Sky!" Alexis gently sat the refrigerator down and tackled me to the ground. I laughed when she did and got back up on my feet when she got off. "What are you doing here? I thought you weren't coming until tomorrow."

"I was. But..my foster family and I..got into it and I needed to get away." Skylar admitted as Alexis nodded in understanding. "Well, we have enough room for you. You can stay for as long as you need. My brother is coming here tomorrow. So, we're moving things around to make space."

"Cool! Let me help you out." I assured as Alexis smiled and she guided me to the other refrigerators.
