The mocha beauty was used to eyes being on her. Growing up in a church, she was absolutely at ease with eyes watching her. After all the pastor's daughter had to be of God and act accordingly. To Nani, it shouldn't matter how she acted, but how her father preached, but none the less she always remembered to never act anything other than perfect.

Growing up with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Nani learned to look calm on the outside despite the storm running wild through the inside.

"Nani", her father says grabbing her hand to pull her onto stage

Once again all eyes were on her. Not like they ever left.

"Yes father?", Nani asks politely

"I would just like to say I am proud of you. You took on your sisters role as church secretary after the unlikely incident, and have been doing great at it. Actually you are doing perfect", He praises causing the whole church to break out into cheers

"Thank you father", She says looking down at the ground

"That's why I'm proud to admit to our church family that you will be getting married soon. And to none other than Dallas Bell. Our church will be stronger than ever", her father says happily while pulling her into a big hug

"That fantastic news", Nani smiles hiding the unshed tears in her eyes

Did she even have a choice? Was he even going to let her put her opinion in on the matter?

"I knew you would think so...this is so big for the church", He says smiling earning a chorus of Amen's and Hallelujah's

"May I be excused father?", Nani asks wiping at her eyes discreetly

"I'm afraid not Nani. It's your turn to lead the choir", Her father says shaking his head and throwing her a stern look, mic outstretched towards her.

"I absolutely forgot father. I'm terrible sorry", She says taking the mic and motioning to the choir

The familiar beat of her favorite song pours from the speakers, and she tunes the words out focusing only on the words of the song

"Not by might not by power. by your spirit God send your spirit God", She begins not missing a note with her angelic voice flowing through the mic

Now if only God could get her out of this mess that her life was turning into.

"We stand in awe of you...", She sings letting the choir join in with her in harmony

Her mind wonders spiritually, and she realizes that God had a plan for her and maybe she should just go with what her father seems fit. It's for the church after all.

By the time her thoughts cleared, the song was over and the church was on their feet.

"That was beautiful Nani", her father says taking the mic

"Thank you father. May I be excused now father. I really need to go to the girls room", Nani explained before he could decline

"Very well daughter. Go ahead", He says nodding his head and taking his rightful chair at the head of the stage while the choir goes into another song

Nani rushes from the church to the Bible study room that was currently empty.

"Thank God", she exclaims before finally dropping to the ground and taking a deep breathe without eyes watching her for imperfections

"Sissy?", a small voice says walking into the room

"Yes Neriah?", Nani asks looking up at the small four year old

"Are you okay?", the little girl asks squeezing into Nani's lap

"I'm fine. You don't understand now, but father has a plan for me and someday he will have a plan for you. Listen to me Neriah. Never let him choose for you. Do you hear me. Never!", Nani says kind of harshly

Ever since their mother died giving birth to Neriah, their father neglected the little girl so it was up to Nani to raise her.

Their mother was a broken women even before giving birth though. Everyday was a different battle for the young women and depression was a common obstacle in their family. There father acted as if it wasn't even there so all the kids adopted that same mindset and pretended their mother was a happy women instead of the broken one she was. Pretended everything was perfect. When she died, the daughters was devastated, yet everything still appeared perfect to their father. A new baby girl was something to be happy over, and the death was looked at as a mere bump in the road. Didn't mean the older girls looked at it the same way.

Neriah was Nani's child in her eyes and she will be damned if her father chose a life for Neriah without Neriah's say so. She may never be brave enough to tell her father no at her sake, but for Neriah she would put her foot down any day.

"I promise sissy.",Neriah says even though she didn't quite understand what her sister spoke of. If Nani said not to do something then she was not going to do it.

Nani places a soft kiss on the little girl's forehead before letting out a sigh.

"Okay....", Nani says closing her eyes and finally letting one lone tear escape from her beautiful hazel eyes

God please let this be a good idea, and Help me see it through...
