The week went by normally. I volunteered to tutor him when I saw him having a hard time in class doing Maths yesterday.
I haven't seen Elliot today. Lewis drove me to school. Fifi said that he had to go to school early for practice. She said that he was a bit sad because he thinks that I won't be watching him play.
I asked Cam (secretly) for a ticket for this afternoon's basketball game.
"It's a VIP pass. You get to sit right behind the players," Cam said as he handed me the pass.
"Thanks," I said as I took it from his hand.
"Cheer for us," Cam grinned. "Like really loud."
I giggled. "There are lots of girls who would do that for me."
"It's the first time that someone whom we really know would cheer for the 3 of us. And besides, it would be a really good surprise for Elliot," he said, putting his hand over my head briefly.
"You mean...your family never supported you?"
"They're too busy to watch. Besides, they think they could catch up with us during dinner so, no prob. But Elliot never really had anyone to ask him how his day was or whatsoever, except for Fifi." He pointed at the pass in my hand. "That's 3PM at the Playdium. Don't be late. Do you know how to get there?"
"I can ask for directions."
Cam's mouth twitched. "Elliot wouldn't like that. I'll have Lewis fetch you."
I rolled my eyes. "Do I even have a choice?"
Cam smirked and shook his head, amused. "By the way, Elliot forgot to give you this." Cam handed me a brand new box of iPhone 6.
"Everything's already set. Do you know how to use it?"
I nodded as I removed the unit from the box. "I've seen him use his phone."
"Good. See you," he patted my head before leaving.
The players went ahead to the Playdium. The game wasn't until 2 hours later, but Lewis was beyond punctual.
We were caught in a heavy traffic at Sunset Avenue. I stared at the intersection where my accident happened. I watched a black Honda pass by and my head throbbed.
"Miss Brooke, are you alright?"
I swiveled to the rearview mirror where Lewis was looking at me.
"Yes. I just...feel a bit sleepy," I said.
"You can rest for awhile, Miss. We'll be there before an hour."
"Thank you," I smiled at his reflection.
He smiled back and nodded.
I laid my head back and closed my eyes. Immediately, I fell into the darkness.
