it shouldn't have come to this. this wasn't a part of the plan. levi's thoughts were left incomplete and were all replaced with only one goal, making sure his daughter was safe.

he knew deep down something like this would happen. that no matter how many times he tried his best to get his daughter close to him in the formation, no matter how many times he would lecture her on being safe and how to spot danger before it happened. he couldn't afford to lose her.

erwin didn't have to give levi the okay to rush after the titan shifter, he was already on the way there. mikasa in a frenzy followed swiftly after.

the first burst of light was enough to make him go even faster. a string of curse words form, he has never been this terrified since the day he left the underground and the day he had to leave isabel and furlan on the battlefield.

levi ackermann, humanity's strongest soldier was on the brink of tears. judgement would soon be replaced with parental instincts and the increasing liability of losing eren was looming over.

risk your dearest daughter or risk all of humanity? the choice was simple. his daughter had a life ahead of her, humanity could wait.

he had promised his wife that he would protect her. even if his wife was dead, it was a promise he pushed himself to upkeep.

as he flew the forest, he saw familiar faces covered in blood whiz past him. none of those faces belonged to his daughter but rather members of his squad. members that he himself handpicked.

he remained stoic as he brushed past them, not showing an inch of emotion. even to petra, the young girl in his squad that almost reminded him of his daughter, he had to stay strong for them.

inside he was devastated. was this the wrath of the female titan? he thought back to isabel and furlan. he promised himself that he would never get too close to anyone in fear of losing them but he broke that promise to himself.

4 members of his squad were dead. all but 2. where was [y/n]? the footprints on the ground made it easier to spot the female titan. when he looked up, he saw mikasa also closing in on the female titan.

since when was she so far ahead? where was eren and [y/n]? the steam had lead levi to believe that eren was defeated and was being swept away by the female titan.

panic enclosed on him and he desperately looked left and right for any sign of his daughter.

he switched the blade in one of his hands around, the way he used to hold daggers as a thief. his grey eyes closing in on the target, waiting for her to turn and face him.

pure and emotionless rage overtook him. he wanted to tear her apart.

so the moment she turned and extended her arm to punch him into a tree was when he spun into action. he sliced up her arm so quickly she couldn't even recognize what he was doing until he had stabbed both blades into her eyes.

he retracted and completely tore apart her body. it was like he was doing this from memory. he felt like he was having deja vu, living another memory he swore to forget about.

mikasa stood in awe as the female titan was now covered in her blood. slumped over a tree, the female titan loosened the grip on the nape of her neck and let her arm drop down.

levi clearly knew what was going to happen. he had already seen it earlier when he and his squad were riding into the forest.

mikasa came in for the nape of the neck but levi would not have it. though levi and mikasa were not close by all means, he understood that she was a skillful but naive soldier. he could not afford to lose another.

"no! stop!" he yelled as he pushed her out of the way, his feet landing on the female titans hand which sprained his ankle badly. he winced in pain but real pain was not over yet.

he pushed off of the titan's hand and sliced opened her mouth, revealing a disgusting but unconscious eren. he grabbed him quickly, assuring that he was still alive.

"he's still alive" he told mikasa, "we must leave now"

as he left the forest he took a glance at the female and realized she was crying. then he looked forward and left without turning back once.
