Chapter 9

⇰⇰⇰⇰⇰

It didn't take long for your eyes to wonder off once again, exploring the new setting of being in the city.

You and Gun walked farther down the sidewalk, passing by a few local restaurants, some clothing stores and a couple markets. You didn't initially have an idea on what you wanted to buy, but buying a few things wouldn't hurt anyone.

Your eyes landed on a clothing store that was across the street from where you were. Buying clothes wasn't much of a problem for you when you were living with your father, but buying clothes on your own is a start.

This could be a chance to spice up your wardrobe with a few new looks.

You waited by the crosswalk along with other people, watching as the light turned red, stopping the cars and allowing the people pass.

You made it to the opposite side of the street, where you now had a proper view of the clothing store. You passed by the long windows that displayed mannequins with trendy and chic clothing on.

Wow, those t-shirts look nice!

You motioned towards the store, letting Gun know that you were planning to head inside.

"Let's check out the clothes here to see what's fitting, then we could go to eat." You promised, giving Gun a knowing smile.

You were too eager to not even bother to look up at the store name, letting Gun open the door for you.

After searching around for a couple of minutes or more, a certain dress had caught your intrest you were trying out different types of clothes and letting Gun judge them for you.

You and Gun were near one of the private changing rooms, Gun wanted to stay posted outside the room while you tried on clothes, but you convinced him to stay so he could help you choose what fitted best for you.

You grabbed the dress off the hanger rack and carrying it with you to change into, allowing Gun to sit outside in one of the comfortable chairs to wait.

After a few minutes, you slipped out of your clothes and changed into the dress you had brought in. The dressing room came with a mirror, allowing you to look at yourself.

You pushed open the door of the dressing room, emerging out of it, showing off the dress to Gun.

"How's this dress?" You asked, doing a little twirl in a off-the-shoulder white dress that was up to your thighs.

The white dress had lace markings at the top of your sleeves where the dress rested securely and only clinged to your shoulders. In order to pull of the dress, you did have to remove your bra as the dress was strapless.

Gun sized you up, as he took in the sight of you. You pursed your lips batting your eyes at him, giving him a bashful smile.

Clearing his throat. "It looks good on you." He said, keeping his answer straightforward and deferential.

Though Guns response was unforeseen, you still went with it as your mouth curved into a small smile.

You clapped your hands together gently. "Next outfit!"

You walked around the store a little bit and picked up another dress that you wanted to try on. Distancing yourself away from Gun, having to wade deeper into the store to look at other outfit's.

You soon walked near the back of the store where they held the sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies and other small accessories.

You casually passed a rack of sweaters, having to hold in your gasp as looked upon a white hoodie that had a (favorite thing/design) on it. You looked through the racks, trying to find the right size for you.

Having pulled the hoodie from the clothes rack, you hold it up to your body trying to imagine what it would look on you. Already forgetting that you were supposed to be looking for a dress.

Despite how many hoodies you had at home, sitting in your closet, it wouldn't hurt a bit if you bought another one.

Shrugging your shoulders you kept the hoodie in your hands and carried on looking for another dress just for the sake of it.

After paying for all your clothes, you walked out the store holding one bag as you didn't buy much as you intended to do so.

As what you promised, you and Gun had walked down the busy sidewalk, making your way into small cafe that you had spotted.

You walked in first, the bell on the top of the door rung once you opened it, a reminder that someone had entered the cafe.

The smell of coffee and pastries immediately hit you, taking a deep breath as you took in scent of sweets and coffee beans. You allowed Gun to go in front of you, choosing a place for you both to sit and rest.

You slowed down your walking for a bit to take a look around, the Cafe had this homey look and structure. There were a good amount of people sitting around, some standing or just ordering something.

But the Cafe was mostly silent, besides the small chatter and the sound of coffee machines going filled the air.

You followed Gun into a booth that was facing the window, you slid into the booth, dropping the bag of clothes you had just bought onto the floor by your feet. You looked up at Gun, but he wasn't looking at you.

You followed his eyes towards the window, where the traffic had become more mild and not as much people walking the streets as it was earlier.

But his eyes only stayed trained on a group of wild boys who occupied the outside of the Cafe. They seemed to be obnoxiously loud as they goofed off, drinking, smoking and trying to catcall women who passed by.

By the way they were acting, you could tell that they were trouble. Including Gun, his eyes narrowed down at them, keeping it discreet as possible.

"Hey Gun..." His eyes instantly snapped, flickering towards you. "I'm gonna order something. Do you want anything?"

Gun waved his hand away at your offer. "I'm not in the greatest hopes to eat, but it's cute that you care about me."

You pouted, pursing your lips slightly in annoyance, leaning back into the chair more. "I was asking if you wanted anything, don't flirt with me."

Nonetheless, you still decided to get him something as you got up from your comfortable spot in the booth and walked up to the counter with your purse in hand.

The corners of your mouth quirked up, having remembered those big ears anywhere of a familiar person

"Hey Jace. How's it going?"

Wow, I never knew Jace was a barista!

Jace had just turned around, having been busy with drying a cup with with a small cloth. His mouth curved into a smile.

"Welcome, Y/n. We missed you yesterday, is everything ok?" He asked, leaning against the counter as picked up another cup to dry.

"Yeah! I'm so sorry for leaving all of a sudden, I had some urgent family issues to take care of." You kept your thoughts and responses direct with Jace.

"It's cool, you gotta take care of your family first." You nodded your head in agreement.

Jaces eyes moved from you to some where else. "But hey..." His expression dulled down. "Mind telling me about your friend over there?"

You instantly knew he was talking about Gun.

You drew your lower lip between your teeth, nibbling on it as you tried to come up with a reason as to who Gun is and why he was with you.

"Oh don't worry about him, that's just a family friend from a very foreign place.. and... he's not used to the people here." You lied, just spitting out whatever came to mind.

"Ok, just checking up you..."He trailed off. "Anyway, what would you like to order?" His face brightened right back up.
