CHAPTER II

XI.

It was dark out. Hardly any one was out on the streets, just the occasional passing car. Or icky couple on a romanticish date. One of the said passing cars turned in to the semi lit gas station. It pulled up next to a gas pump and cut the engine. The driver grabbed her wallet and opened the door. She looked up to see which station she was at before turning to head inside. She wrapped her coat around her, fighting the cold. She opened the station doors and looked around for the cashier, yeah that one. The interior was completely empty and was filled only with the sound of the refrigerators in the back of the store.

"Hello?" She called out, taking a few more steps inside. No one answered. "Come on." She pushed her hair out of her face and went over to the counter. "I just need some gas.." Again, no response. "Hello?" Her eyes wandered to the far edge of the counter and she instantly took a few steps back.

Dark red blood was slowly dripping off the side of the counter. The more the driver looked, the more she saw. Blood was splattered up the side of the wall, soaking in to the cardboard boxes of cigarettes. Slowly, she walked around the counter.
