"that was somewhat
impressive,
kid."
taehyung drawled,
voice like growling
thunder
in a pitch
night sky.

jeongguk is sure
that he isn't trying
to sound attractive
or anything...
but he was so
attractive.

kim taehyung
didn't even have to
try; he just simply
was.

"where did you
learn to speak
with such liberty?"
taehyung let go of
the smaller boy's hand;
jeongguk feeling cold
once more.

liberty?

well, he certainly
wouldn't have described
it like that. sure,
his 'speech' had a
slight twist of his own
flavour and
he was
definitely speaking
from the
depths of his
teenage heart,
but the words that
spilled from his
thin lips were
valid and described
him perfectly
and the way that he
did his art more than
anything else
in the world.
he wasn't free,
not in this unjust
society of a world
but he had his own rights
and principles that he
set himself.
and self respect.
he gave himself a lot of
that, to be sure.

jeongguk felt
awkward, but he
did not
want to
answer
back.

heck, he didn't
know how to. how was
he supposed to respond
to taehyung's vague,
generic excuse of
a question?

"i'm observant." he
manages to mumble,
before shyly ducking
his head
again;
away from the fierce
gaze.

he doesn't
really know
what he meant by
that, he guessed it
was better to leave it
up to taehyung to
interpret.

and interpret
he does.

"i know," the man
whispered, and jeongguk
didn't know whether
to be delighted or creeped
out, though he didn't have
the
time to make
up this decision
before taehyung spoke
again, and he jumped slightly.
"at least... that's what
mrs light told me,
anyway."

mrs light
actually aknowledged
him beyond lessons?

when, where,
why, who, what?

jeongguk found it
rather strange how
in all of the five years
that he had been at
this shitty school,
none of the teachers,
not even one, had
ever spoke of him
outside the classroom,
let alone confronted
him about it.

his head shot up
in shock at taehyung's
statement.
"she talked about me?"

taehyung raised a
neatly groomed
eyebrow, rather
unimpressed before replying
with a calm, silvery,
"of course."

jeongguk looked up
once more
to find
that taehyung was still
staring at him. he hadn't
stopped. as much as he
wanted to shake the feeling
off, he couldn't help but
feel a little uncomfortable.

hot.

almost.

"she liked you,"
taehyung smirked
and joengguk wanted
him to do it again.

"you were her
favourite student.
she said you
were the only
one in the class
that took art
seriously. that's
admirable considering
how difficult and draining
it is, kid." taehyung gives
him a weary, heavy gaze.

he understood
exactly how difficult
it was, not many people
did and jeongguk
liked that about him.

"i've liked it
since i was really
young." jeongguk
lets out a shaky breath.

"i can tell," then,
taehyung is staring
at his painting and
the smaller boy began
to feel extremely
self conscience.
"i've never seen anyone
quite paint like you;
especially at such a
young age, you're
different, kid."

that would be
one way
to describe it.

one in a million.

but before jeongguk
could reply, taehyung
stalked back to his desk.
.

that was the longest
double lesson of art
he had ever had.
