~Emily~
Pony was still deeply interested in his work he didn't even notice me. I turned around and Soda flashed me two thumbs up.

I pulled out a chair right across from Pony. The scraping against the floor alerted him and made him realize I was there.

"Oh, hey Emily," he said.

"Um, hey," I stuttered. My face burned red.

Awkward silence followed. I had to fill it.

"So, um, you must be really, uh, really smart. Doing homework on a Friday and all."

He smiled. "I'm just bored. I never have anything to do and I don't really wanna go to the movies alone."

I practically heard Soda's voice in my head from across the room. Ask him to go with you! Now! Ask him out!

"Oh, yeah, I remember what happened last time, do you wanna go to the nightly double with me?" I asked.

His eyes lit up. Or did they? Am I just imagining things? I hope I didn't imagine that.

"Sure! Let me just go ask Darry." He replied.

I didn't even bother to ask Dally. He doesn't care what I do. He's barely around anyways, and I don't know where he is most of the time. As long as I'm not getting into trouble that could get us separated from each other, it's fine.

We both walked out of the dining room and into the connecting kitchen where everyone else was. Dally and Darry were next to eachother playing cards.

Ponyboy walked over to them. "Hey guys, can Emily and I go to the movies together?" He asked.

Dally raised an eyebrow at me and then said yes, and Darry just told Pony, "sure, but make sure you take a blade... just in case".

We nodded and started to walk, but Dally grabbed my arm.

"Hang on," he said, "before you go, can we talk for a sec?"

"Yeah. I'll meet you outside, Ponyboy."

He brought me into an empty part of the room and whispered, "should I be worried?"

"What? No, Dal". I answered. "You're never worried about me until I go to the movies with Pony? I've been with him lots of times, just with some of the others too. It will be fine."

"Just friends, right?" He asked.

"Yup..." I said nervously.

His eyes widened. "You like him, don't you?" He whisper yelled.

My eyes wandered around the room.

"You are way too young to date you know!" He said sternly.

I rolled my eyes. "So what if I have a crush on him? We aren't even dating. Anyways, why can't you just realize that I'm not a baby! We won't do anything bad, don't worry." I whisper yelled back, then stormed off angrily.

I hate to leave him while we are mad at eachother, but oh well.

"What was that all about?" Pony asked when I saw him outside, "you okay?"
