(I was supposed to have published this earlier but if you found a joke I made in the last chapter, you'd probably have guessed I fell into SCP hell and, well, I've been crying over SCP-590 for the past several days and-OH MY GOD, THIS STORY HAS 590 VOTES AS OF ME PUBLISHING THIS, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?)
While it wasn't obvious that you had been crying earlier when you entered the classroom, everyone was still rather alarmed to see you of all people looking quite visibly upset.
"What happened, (Name)!?" Ibuki yelled.
"I-I... this girl she... and then this boy with long hair..." You had no idea how to desc what had just happened into a coherent sentence.
"Hey! Speak the fuck up!" Fuyuhiko said. It was then that Chiaki had returned with an out of breath Nagito.
"Oh thank goodness... Wait, what happened to Nagito?" You asked. You were too relieved that you hadn't unintentionally indirectly murdered your two classmates, that you failed to notice Nagito perk up a little when you questioned his well-being.
"After you left, that girl... Junko... hit Nagito in the back of the head and knocked him out. He regained consciousness awhile ago but he still clearly needs rest." Chiaki said.
"I'm just... I don't know..." You said. Chiaki quickly shook her head, as if remembering something.
"That's beside the point! Ms. Yukizome is in trouble!" Chiaki said.
"What!? What happened!?" Mahiru said.
"She stayed behind so Nagito and I could escape! We have to help her!" Chiaki said. Suddenly, the door burst open.
"W-We need help too!" Mikan said as she supported a battered up Peko. Fuyuhiko immediately ran up to her.
"Peko! What happened!?" Fuyuhiko demanded as he took over supporting her from Mikan.
"Y-Young master... I did my best but..." Peko said before wincing.
"What do we do now?" You asked.
"We have to go together! It's our only shot!" Chiaki said.
"I don't mind knocking some sense into this Junko chick!" Akane said before slamming her fist into her palm.
"May she quiver before the power of the great Gundham Tanaka!" Gundham said as Sonia looked at him in admiration, a complete contrast to the glare he was receiving from Kazuichi.
"Woohoo! Let's save Ms. Yukizome!" Ibuki cheered.
"Don't even bother." You looked over to see Nagito, a frown present on his usually optimistic face.
"Huh? What do you mean, Nagito?" Chiaki asked.
"Don't get me wrong, you're all wonderfully talented. But you're no match for them. You've seen what they're capable of back there, class rep. It's possible that... their despair is bigger than your hope..." Nagito said. Everyone began to look unsure of themselves. You were no exception, looking down at your feet as you reflected on your experience with that boy who appeared to be working with Junko. You knew it was pure luck that you managed to get out of there. You might not be so lucky if you saw him again.
"We still have to try!" You looked up at Chiaki, who only appeared to be more determined because of Nagito's warning.
"If it wasn't for Ms. Yukizome, I'd still be alone with only my games to keep me company! I refuse to abandon her! I don't care if there's a chance we'll lose! We can't just leave her behind!" Chiaki yelled. Nagito chuckled as everyone gained their hope back. You'd swear these people were all bipolar.
"You passed my test. I knew from the start their despair was no match for your hope." Nagito said before trying to stand up only to fail. It was determined that someone would have to carry him. That someone being Kazuichi. As everyone prepared to leave, you took a deep breath.
"Hold on, Chiaki." You said.
"Hm? What is, (Name)?" Chiaki asked.
"What if Junko ends up luring you guys into a trap? If we all go at once, no one will be around to get help." You said.
"I... never considered that." Chiaki said.
"Exactly. That's why I think I should stay behind. If anything goes wrong, just text me and I'll go and find someone to help you guys, alright?" You said as you held up your phone. You didn't have enough guts to admit you were too scared to see Junko or her lackies again. Chiaki smiled and held up her phone as well.
"Got it. Thank you, (Name)." Chiaki said.
"B-But, Chiaki! Shouldn't we need as much people as possible?" Mikan asked.
"I get what you mean, but lacking one person won't be incredibly detrimental. Plus, (Name) does make a good point." Chiaki said.
"I just... want to help as much as I can." You said. You still felt bad for leaving Chiaki and Nagito behind, even if you'd probably never say it. Speaking of Nagito, he was currently smiling at you.
"That's my girl." Nagito muttered so quietly it went completely unnoticed as Ryota suddenly brought attention to himself.
"I want to help too. Because I... am also your classmate." "Ryota" said as he ripped off a mask revealing he wasn't Ryota at all. As everyone else was shocked at the explanation that he was actually the Ultimate Imposter pretending to be Ryota, you were actually relieved. You weren't crazy or hallucinating after all.
And so, everyone left except for you.
As you sat at your desk, you silently prayed that they would be able to save Ms. Yukizome and defeat Junko. It was around thirty minutes later that your prayers got a response in the form of a text from Chiaki.
'Hey. We found Ms. Yukizome.'
'Really?'
'Yeah. You should probably come here now. We're under the statute of the school's founder.'
'What about Junko?'
'Currently dealing with her.'
"Hmmmm..." You stared at the screen for a minute. Chiaki had no reason to lie to you, right? Especially not at a time like this.
'Alright. Let me just prepare something to celebrate first, okay? I'll be as quick as I can.'
With that, you reached into your bag and pulled out some supplies. You decided that to celebrate your classes victory against Junko, you'd make little plushies of the whole class. It'd take awhile, but if you were quick enough it wouldn't take too long. With that, you got to work.
Meanwhile, Mikan sighed as she looked at Chiaki's phone. She had managed to grab it before Chiaki fell through the trap door in the wall. You really were stubborn.
"I hope you can make it in time, (Name)..." Mikan said before going to catch up with the others.
(...Things get wild next chapter. That's all I'm gonna say.)
