(After prom)

"So let me get this straight. You and Ben kissed and I missed it?" Evie checked.

"Yep." Mal nodded.

"Okay. So what happened after that?" Evie wondered.

"We just kept dancing. Till the song was over." Mal answered. "Anything else?"

"So are you two like dating now?" Jay asked Ben.

"No. It was just like a one time thing." Ben said.

"But why Ben? Don't you like her?" Jay questioned.

"Yeah as my best friend." Ben answered.

"I mean more than that." Jay stated.

"I don't know." Ben shrugged. "I mean I obviously I care about her. But I'm not sure if I want to date her."

"Well dude. You think about that. I'm gonna go home. I'll see you Monday." Jay patted Ben's back before leaving.

(Monday morning)

"Hey Ben aren't you giving Mal a ride?" His mom asked walking in.

"Yeah." Ben mumbled. "But I'm kind of dreading it."

"Why?" His mom replied asking.

"Something happened at prom on Friday." Ben stated.

"What? Are you guys not friends anymore?" His mom wondered.

"No that's not it. I don't really want to talk about it right now." Ben said.

"Okay. Well you still need to get up for school. So come on chop, chop." His mom told him before leaving.

Ben was laying on his stomach and rolled over on his back before getting up.

He was waiting in the car for Mal. Inside Mal's house she was looking out the window at him.

She kept picturing their kiss. It kept playing in both their heads all weekend.

Ben looked over and saw Mal coming, so he put his seat belt on.

"Good morning." He greeted her as she got in.

"Morning." Mal replied with a awkward smile.

They didn't say anything for a while.

Then Ben broke the silence. "So how was your weekend?"

Mal looked over at him. "It... It was good. How was your's?"

"Mine was fine." Ben replied.

"That's good." Mal said.

"Yep." Ben stated.

They pulled up to school and sat there for a second. Then Mal went to get out, but Ben stopped her.

"Mal wait." Ben grabbed her arm.

"Yeah? What's up?" Mal asked sitting back.

"Can we talk about what happened? I don't want this to ruin our friendship." Ben said.

"What do we talk about though?" Mal asked. "We kissed. That's it."

"I know, but we haven't talk since it happened." Ben replied.

"Look Ben it happened. It's over now we can just live our lives as best friends again." Mal told him.

"Okay." Ben nodded. "Should we head inside now?"

"Yeah." Mal said and opened her door.

Ben and Mal were walking in and Ben saw Audrey. He sighed and kept walking.
