we were twin flames
with the same amount of heat
burning wildly through our
bodies
minds
souls
embers of heat and pain
often consuming us whole
we were twin flames
because instead of putting to rest
this body of heat
that made our skin itch
and our blood boil
we chose to let it live
and stay ablaze
because now we have
taught each other
the ways of keeping
this heat at bay
and how to tame
it's sparks
from ever burning
our skin again
we were twin flames
because our hurt and pain
no longer control this fire
we have now learned
to use it for good
our bad memories
arguments
wounds
go up in flames
and our bond is what remains
between the curls of smoke
we were twin flames
because we have embraced this fire
and it's heat no longer burns
our skin
for now it keeps us warm
