Okay. Hi. Hello. Yes, um...

A lot of you know I play percussion (you know... drum kit, xylophone, cymbals, timpani... a whole lot of instruments), and something really exciting happened. I got moved up to a new band after three years :''>

yeah my life is a little boring, but MOVING ON-

So to celebrate (I guess), I have a few funny stories from over three years to share...

So there are three main bands in our school- Goodwin Concert Band, Harker Concert Band and Symphonic Band. They're in order of lowest to highest.

In year five, everyone is required to play a band instrument, and they have this fancy system for choosing the instrument best suited for you (and I ended up with percussion). For the rest of year five, there are classes for each different instrument, taught by a band teacher that plays your instrument. For example, all the percussion kids (about six of us) get taught by the percussion teacher (well hopefully).

Twice a week, the whole of year five gets together and plays in one giant band. It's not a co curricular thing- it's compulsory to be in year five band.

Anyways, y'all gon' blow into y'all trombones fo' a year, then in year six, you can choose to keep playing your instrument, or drop it and stop playing in a band.

I continued playing percussion, and I (along with everyone else who decided to continue) got put in Goodwin Concert Band.

It was pretty cool, the pieces we had were a little tricky at first, but we all got more experienced :0 and they became easier to play.

Last year, most of the people I knew moved up to the next band (Harker Concert Band), but I stayed in the band I was in :(

So I was playing with a bunch of people I didn't know, and were all younger than me.

Okay, I sucked at percussion last year. Ever since we had our first rehearsal this year, all the pieces have been so much easier for me to play...

Experience, kids.

At one point, we even got to perform the Pirates of the Caribbean theme, which was fantastic (Beasts and Where to Find Them... haha).

Another time, we were playing this piece called Whirlwind, which had a percussion feature where we all got these long plastic pipes. We were meant to swing the pipes in circles above our head, and they all made differently pitched whistling sounds.

I'm just going to say it- I knocked over a stack of chairs once.

I'm surprised they still let me play the pipey thing (actually, it's called a Whirlie).

But suddenly, last week, our conductor told me that I was moving up to the next band!! (Which is strange, because they only move people at the beginning of the year,, but I'm not complaining!)

So I didn't attend the next Goodwin Band rehearsal, and now I'm going to Harker Concert Band rehearsals on Wednesday mornings.

I've only been to one so far, but the pieces are so cool, and I've already become attached to my parts :0 because they are so fun to play and (even though a bit harder) sound so beautiful!

Alright, time for something hilarious.

The keyboardist in Harker Concert Band (I found this out last week) is called TINA.

I couldn't keep a straight face throughout rehearsal.

AND!!! I've been inspired to write a band AU where everyone plays an instrument >:3

#sorrynotsorry

Something I forgot to mention: each student that plays an instrument (any kind of instrument) can also take private lessons, where they get one on one help with their band pieces.

The catch is, you also have to learn your own solo piece, NOT to play in a band, but for an exam TwT

And I don't know how it works for other instruments, but since percussionists don't play just ONE instrument, we have to learn three separate pieces on different instruments ;-;

My private lesson teacher (and it's really distracting at times) looks so much like Claudia Kim. She even sounds like Claudia Kim. It's brilliant. Nagini can play the drums.

And last Thursday, she unknowingly quoted Newt..

She said I was playing too fast, "Just a smidge."

And I almost sneezed trying to cover up my laugh.

Now Nagini is quoting Newt.

Yep, so there's my crazy, hectic, Fantastic Beasts is catching up with me everywhere life.

The only thing that could make Band better is if:

We got to play the Fantastic Beasts Theme!!!!!!!!! I would totally flip out if we could!!!!!!! Oh heck, I'm going to request this now...
