Chapter 3: Engineer and Tactician

Later that day...

Ulrich: "You mean it?!"

Micheal: "Well yeah."

Ulrich was given an okay from most of the group to join.

???: "Is that Ulrich?"

Four, gloved people stand just outside the gate, three male and one female. The female has an assortment of anime merchandise, the first male has black hair and glasses, one needs to hit the gym, and the last is holding a stuffed dog.

Kyle: "(sighing) Yes he is William."

William: "So you want to be Shining Hope's Engineer?"

Ulrich: "I'll do my best!"

Female: "But you guys do realize just what we've been through, right?"

Large Male: "You think that he can't handle it Risa?"

Risa: "No Robert. I know that we need an Engineer and a Tactician, but..."

Robert: "You may have a point, but remember what you went through when you joined?"

Male: "I-I do."

William holds out his hand towards the eager Ulrich.

William: "Let's go get your ID Glove."

Ulrich takes his hand.

Ulrich: "Maybe I'll get the chance to show you some of my inventions."

Everyone except the remaining male and Ulrich are off.

Ulrich: "Come on Caleb!"

Caleb: "O-Okay!"

They catch up.

Meanwhile...

Another group of ten composed of four males and six females is standing just outside a video game store. The first male has a black shirt with a red number nine, the second male is wearing a blue hoodie, the third male has a black shirt with blue, Japanese text, the fourth male has a white shirt and a kitten necklace, the first female has a lavender shirt with a red star pattern, the second female has an orange and purple shirt, the third female has a teal shirt with a yellow, floral pattern, the fourth female is wearing a dark purple shirt with dark grey hearts, and the fifth female is wearing a faded red shirt.

Male 1: "So your name is uh..."

A female with long, dark blond hair, silver shirt with magenta hearts, light blue jeans, pale skin, hazel eyes, black sneakers with magenta laces, and a bandage on her left cheek looks towards the first male with understanding.

Mira: "It's Mira, Zack. I hadn't had a chance to say my name yet."

Zack: "Really?"

Male 3: "It's because you were so excited you didn't give her a chance to breath."

Mira: "Thank you Edo."

Mira looks towards the girl in lavender.

Mira: "So Tori, any idea on my ID?"

Tori: "Hm... Cole?"

Tori looks towards the one with the kitten necklace.

Cole: "I know that I should know my cousin more than-"

Mira: "He absolutely doesn't."

The last male has a look of creativity in his eyes.

Edo: "Roy?"

Roy: "Calculator."

Mira: "That's not that bad."

Mira looks towards the one in teal.

Mira: "What do you think Asaka?"

She looks at the faded red.

Mira: "Yukiko?"

Now the one with the dark purple.

Mira: "Serena?"

Lastly, the one with orange and purple.

Mira: "Emily?"

Asaka: "It works."

Serena: "I can live with it."

Zack goes inside.

Yukiko: "Y-Yeah."

Emily: "Where's Zack?"

Zack comes out with a strange slot and card.

Zack: "You're all set."

Mira takes the items.

Mira: "Thanks."

The slot attaches to the back of her phone.

Emily: "Make some magic happen!"

Everyone else pulls out identical items.

Mira: "Just watch me!"

They insert the cards while they vanish into thin air.

Meanwhile...

Ulrich: "Just call me Gearhead!"

Ulrich has just received a similar glove compared to the others in a Login.

Andrea: "Let's see you in action then!"

The others enter strange rooms with hand shaped slots inside.

Ulrich: "Wait up!"

Ulrich enters another one.

Ulrich: "Time to show them!"

He inserts his gloved hand before vanishing into thin air...
