After the whole fiasco in Cerulean city all five trainers made their way to Vermillion city for Ash's rematch
"I can't wait to meet another Electric type gym leader. I bet he's better than that Clemont" Bonnie said
"Yeah I bet I've heard that he had military trained pokemon" Max said
"That's not really true Max, he use to be in the military even fighting in Kanto war but I doubt he used that type of training in his pokemon. Well at least I hope I'm right" Ash said
"You hope?" Paul asked
"Well he did have a habit of over doing it when I first battled him and also he has a habit of insulting new trainers" Ash said before they reached Vermillion City
"So do you guys want to join us in the gym or do you want to check the S. S Anne 2 cause Prof. Oak got us tickets and I'm sure Ash can finish the gym in less than an hour" Alain said
"I'll go with you!" Bonnie cheered smiling
"Well go on the ship I'd like to see it in person" May said getting nods from Paul and Max
"Well then lets heal our pokemon then go" Ash said heading towards the pokemon Center
After Ash got her Pokémon all healed and ready to go sh, Alain and Bonnie went to the gym and challenged Lt. Surge who happily accepted
"Well then Missy lets see hat you've got" Surge said before getting his first pokemon out
"Magnemite~"
"Charizard! I choose you!" Ash exclaimed before a powerful Charizard stood tall and proud on the battle field
"Strong looking Charizard Missy" he commented before commanding his pokemon to use Thunderwave
"Charizard dodge then use flamethrower" Ash said before Charizard flew evasive menuvers to avoid the super effective attack then when he was a foot away he fired a powerful flamethrower
"Magnimite is unable to battle, Charizard is the winner!" the ref said before Surge sent out his second pokemon his Raichu
"Charizard return. Pikachu your turn" Ash said before Pikachu jumped onto the field
"Well this reminds me alot of a brave young man I use to know. Sadly he's gone now" Surge said after laughing
"Pikachu use Electroball" Ash commands
"Your going down Raichu!" Pikachu said before throwing an Electroball at Raichu
"Raichu focus punch!" Surge commands before Raichu destroyed the Electroball with focus punch
"Pikachu use Irontail on Raichu's head!" Ash commanded and within a split second Raichu was down
"Alright congratulations!" Bonnie cheered before running to Ash and hugging her waist
"Thanks Bonnie" Ash said smiling and hugging the girl back
"That was definitely a battle worth my while the last time I battled like that was against a young man named Ash Ketchum heck he even showed me what being a great trainer is all about. It's such ashame that he was taken away" Surge said sadly
"Your right" Bonnie said before she looked at the left side of the gym and saw a Pichu "Mr. Surge who's Pichu is that?"
"Oh, that's my Raichu's kid. Come here Pichu" Surge said before the Pichu ran in and jumped onto his
arm
"Wow it's so cute" Bonnie said
"Well if you think that then she's yours" Surge said giving Bonnie the Pichu
"Seriously?" Bonnie asked in disbelief
"You bet an awesome kid like you deserves a great Pokémon like her but just a heads up don't evolve her once she becomes a Pikachu thats a mistake I learned from long ago. Any way thanks for the great battle Missy take the Thunder Badge as proof of your victory"Surge said handing Ash the badge
"Thank you" Ash said smiling at the changed man then at Alain
"Yeah thank you and I promise I'll be a great electric type trainer one day!" Bonnie said getting a pat on the head by the ex military man
Once they left the gym they headed to the new S. S Anne 2 got their friends even wining some interesting Pokémon before heading to Celadon city.
"Were almost there" Ash said before she remembered the last time she was here "I wish I could apologize to Erica again but no one can find out who I really am"
"Ash are you alright?" Alain asked when he noticed that Ash was abnormally quite
"Oh um yeah I just remembered the last time I was here" she said
"Oh another pokemon Contest May please please please enter I want to watch you again" Bonnie begged the brunette
"Go, May you have a chance to win the Grand festival this year, especially with your new pokemon" Paul said
"Please May please" Bonnie begged again
"Oh my excited about contests aren't you Bonnie?" Ash asked the blonde girl
"Because Pokémon Contests are so much more exciting than a Pokemon Performances I want to be a Coordinator to when I grow up" Bonnie said making Ash and May smile
"Sis can I go with Ash please we promise will make it" Max said begging his sister who nodded
"Alright then I'll enter good luck with your gym battle Ash and this time try to make it" Paul said jokingly
"Yeah yeah" Ash said dismissively before heading to the gym with Alain and Max
"Excuse me I'm here to challenge the gym leader" Ash said to the receptionist
"Oh of course" she said before leading them to Erica
"Oh a challenger?" She asked
"Yes I'm here to challenge you for the Rainbow Badge and also to buy one of your perfumes later" Ash said shocking Pikachu but he just shook it off
"Very well. Gloom" Erica said before the Weed pokemon appeared on the field
"Swellow let's go" Ash said before her Swallow Pokémon appeared on the field
"Gloom now use stun spore" Erica commands before Gloom sent out yellowish powder towards Swellow
"Swellow gust to blow the stun spore away then straight into Arial Ace" Ash commanded before Swallow blew the powder like substance away then proceeded to use the super effective flying move against Gloom knocking it into the wall
"Gloom are you alright?" Erica asked concerned for her pokemon
"Gloom!" the weed pokemon nodded before getting up dissipate the damage Swellow did
"Now Gloom use razor Leaf" Erica command
"Swellow dodge it then use Air Slash to finish this!" Ash commands and just like that the match was over
"Thank you for such an exilerating battle and as proof of your victory I present you with the Rainbow Badge" Erica said before Ash, Max and Alain left the gym for the Contest hall
