AMBER P.O.V. –

“You put your foot in this.” Travis said smacking on the food I cooked, walking to sit down in the living room.

Mama Shelia’s living room and kitchen were connected, separated by a bar. She was at work, and Travis had come over here this morning to wash his clothes. He said he refused to pay for the washer in his apartment.

“That was for August, Travis.”

“That nigga sleep. He ain’t thinking about food. Besides it’s plenty in there. He ain’t gon eat all of this.”

I rolled my eyes, shook my head and poured me a glass of grape juice. “How is that you can eat so much and still stay in shape?”

I walked over to the living room.

“Cause I work all this off. This country fried steak you cooked, this is what fuels my work out. Thank you.” He took the glass of grape juice from me as I was about to take a sip and drank it.

“That was for me.”

“It’s a whole thing of juice right there.” He pointed to the juice on the counter.

I sighed and went to pour me another glass. I took a sip.

“So how are you and Stacy?” I came over and sat in the plush leather chair that was next to the couch he was sitting on.

“We cool.”

“That’s it. Cool?”

“We only been talking for a hot minute. You want me to be in love already? No. I’m not my brother. That nigga fell for you faster than Chris Brown died in Stomp The Yard.”

“Do you like her?”

“She aight.” He ate some of his eggs that were over easy.

“Just aight?”

“I mean she cute too. But I gotta get to know her some more.”

“Did August tell you about coming up to Philly with us?”

“Yeah.”

“So you coming?”

“Yeah I’m gon go. You know I should hire you. This food good as shit.”

“I don’t cook for nobody but August.”

“What if I paid you?”

“With what money Travis?”

“Whoa did you just try to come at my head?”

“I’m just saying. I heard you got fired from Target because you kept playing on the store intercom. Why would you do that? ” I laughed.

“Cause it was funny. You shoulda seen people’s faces when I said, they were giving away free cds. Everybody was walking out the store with cds.” He cracking up.

“You must not want a job.”

“It’s just I hated it. I had to find something to do to make the day go by.”

“Well what do you really want to do?”

“Be an actor.”

“Well go do it.”
