babysitter - steve harrington x henderson!reader

a headcannon written by a girl who is in emotional pain after season three and wanted some steve content so she made some herself :)

-       this head cannon is basically the plot for my book 'wires',

•you were basically dustin's role model and inspiration since birth

•he followed you pretty much everywhere as a kid

•you always supported him and listened when he would talk about science or math or technology, mostly because you were a nerd for those things as well

•when you and your family moved, you were dustin's only friend

•so you were obviously very proud of and happy for him when he became part of the party

•dustin eventually convinced you to play d&d with him and his friends when your mom dropped you off at mike's house

•after participating in many campaigns, you started dressing up with them and getting more involved

•basically, you were their full-time babysitter

•you and johnathan would talk a lot because of your brothers always hanging out, and some of the kids assumed that you two liked each other, but you were really just friends

•when high school came around, you began to talk to nancy wheeler about her friend barb (who had disappeared, just like your brother's friend)

•dustin and the gang didn't want to tell you about eleven at first, but dustin eventually told you that he had found a girl with superpowers

•even though you didn't believe him fully, you didn't think he would lie to you and made him promise to call you if anything were to happen and he needed help

•you two would obviously have a secret handshake to seal that deal

•nancy called you and told you about her and johnathan discovering the demogorgon, convincing you to meet them at the store to shop for supplies and weapons

•you were the first to see the 'nancy the slut' sign and tried your best to distract nancy but she saw it anyway

•before johnathan could even start talking to steve, you had punched him square in the jaw

•shocked, steve held his jaw and looked you up and down

•(tbh he was probably turned on by you punching him)

• "asshole" you murmured, stepping away from him

•tommy h. was yelling at steve to fight back, but he couldn't find it in him to hurt you, so he punched johnathan instead

•this ticked you off, but you pulled nancy away from the fighting

•you didn't end up going to the police station so you went to check on dustin

•when he wasn't home, you started to worry

•nancy, johnathan, joyce, and hopper picked you up from your house to go find the kids and stop whatever was going on

•eleven took a quick liking to you when she first saw you hug dustin tightly, kissing his moppy curls as he crinkled his nose in digust

•even though johnathan didn't want you to join him, you refused to let him fight the demogorgon without you

•you were the one to open the door and see steve standing there, planning to apologize to nancy
