Epilogue

There was a small beat of silence before Tony spoke.
"Get him on his feet..we can stand around posing up a storm later."
I did just that,pulling Loki to his feet.
I twirled around the chitauri scepter in my hand.
"What do we do with the magic wand?"
Tony replied "Just give it to Thor"
I nodded and did exactly that.
"You guys can go..escort him out..i'm gonna go take a walk.."
Natasha raised an eyebrow,but said nothing else as i walked off in a totally random direction.

I crashed on a couch in the tower somewhere..and my phone was ringing when i woke up.
I looked at it and realized my grandpa was calling.
I picked up the phone and answered tiredly.
"Hey,Grandpa..how's it going?"
"What happened??"
"Are you okay?!"
I winced at his loudness.
"Yeah,i'm fine..a little battered...otherwise,i'm okay."
He replied,far more relieved and quiet.
"Oh,thank god..your mom has been somewhere between threatening to kill you and sobbing for the last.. few days."
I just sighed.
"Tell her i'm okay.."
He went silent.
"Y'know what..put her on the phone and i'll tell her myself."
He apparently did so,'cause the next thing i heard was.
"CALEB STONE,WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?!"
I just winced and prepared for a serious tongue lashing.
"Hey mom.."
"DON'T 'HEY MOM' ME!"
"YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN YOURSELF KILLED,CALEB!"
"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW DANGEROUS THAT WAS?!"
I shouted out,fed up with being yelled at.
"YES I KNOW."
"I KNOW THE RISKS....I WAS GIVEN SO MANY CHANCES TO NOT DO THIS..THIS WAS MY DECISION."
"I CAN WORRY ABOUT MY HEALTH LATER..AS LONG AS EVERYONE'S OKAY,I COULDN'T GIVE LESS OF A DAMN ABOUT MY WELL-BEING."
There was a beat of silence.
"Besides..i'm done with the superhero gig..."
There was another,longer beat of silence before my mother replied.
"..Why's that?"
"Because..i just..i can't just make you worry about my ass day in,day out..'cause this stuff happens on a regular enough basis that the world needs the Avengers..that's what we call ourselves,by the way."
"I can't do that to you,Grandpa,Grandma,or the rest of the family..i can't."
"Besides,i'm not cut out for this..i'm not Captain America or Iron Man,Thor or anyone else..i'm just an ordinary kid from Queens."
There was a beat of silence.
"...That's why you're the perfect person for this."
I was....confused as hell.
"What?"
She started full-pelt talking at me before i could get words in.
"You have the perspective of an ordinary person...you've come so far from when you were little..you used to be bullied,then you found someone who stood up for you...and now he's your best friend."
"You've gone from fixing light switches and dusty old lamps to making entirely new things.Out of dumpster parts,no less..weapons,armors,judging by the news,and you held your own against a god,from what Mr.Stark told me earlier."
"You know..we have a family history of heroes...your grandpa knew Captain America way back when.."
I just smiled a little.
"I'll tell Steve to visit him sometime."
I knew my mom had raised an eyebrow on her end.
"So he's Steve now?"
I giggled.
"Yes..He's Steve,Iron Man is Tony,The Hulk is Greenie..when you save a city with people,you end up being on a first name basis pretty quickly...even more so when you join their band of superheroes."
I could pratically hear the smile in my mom's voice.
"I'm so proud of you..i knew you'd go far..now go meet up with your superhero friends..you guys probably have some clean up to do."
I laughed.
"We do...love you."
"Love you too..see you when you get home."
She hung up and i was smiling my ass off.
Tony walked in the room.
He started talking once i looked at him.
"Hey there half-pint...seen the news?"
"No..why?"
"Everyone is talking about us..especially about you."
He turned the TV in the room on.
It displayed tons of different people giving thanks,and some others bashing us already,and denouncing the Avengers for recruiting a child.
"They don't realize that i CHOSE to do this..."
"No.They don't."
I just sighed.
"Wonderful.."
Then i saw Peter and May on the screen,Peter talking.
"He saved me..saved my aunt..there's no way he was coerced into this...wherever he is..,if he sees this..i'm grateful."
I turned off the TV.
"Alright..let's go return Loki to Asgard."
I smiled as did Tony.
We walked off to go get Loki and the other Avengers

We were all there..aside from Steve.
Everyone was out of their superhero costumes.
I finally spoke up.
"Where the hell is he?"
"I would like to see my mom SOMETIME this decade."
Steve finally turned up on his motorcycle.
"Fucking finally..now can we please get the lunatic back to Asgard?"
I looked at Loki as i said that.
Thor walked over to Loki with the capsule-thingy containg the tesseract in hand,and Loki begrudingky grabbed it.
Thor twisted the handle on it and they both teleported back to asgard.
I looked at Tony.
"So..what's next?"
"I..have no idea."
Steve snickered.
"That's a first."
Tony turned and stuck his tongue out at him.
I giggled.
"Well..i'm gonna go home..You all have my number..call me when you need me."
Natasha nodded.
"We will."
I smiled.
"See you guys.."
We all walked off,me towards the same black stingray that Clint and Natasha were riding in,Tony and Bruce towards another car,and Steve towards his motorcycle.

3 days later
I was in the Stingray with Natasha,driving up to my school..school was basically over,so my lateness didn't matter..especially given the whole 'alien attack' thing that still had everyone reeling.
"Natasha,you could pay to be more subtle."
"Bruce could pay to be a better distraction,too.But he's stumbling to lecture them,be happy the car is at least black and not bright green or something."
I giggled and looked at Bruce,who was..horribly failing to keep most students' intrest aside from Peter,who was hanging on to every stuttery word out of Bruce's mouth.
"Okay..let's go save the green idiot."
I got out of the car and walked up next to Bruce.
"You are a horrible professor."
Bruce looked at me.
"I told you i'm bad at lecturing."
"Didn't say you were THIS bad,though."
Everyone had finally turned their attention to me and i heard a chorus of 'Wait,you know Bruce Banner' and 'woahs' and 'holy crap' and so much more.
Then Peter realized i was there.
He shouted with glee.
"CALEB!"
Peter ran at me full speed,glomping me,which made me wince a little due to some injuries.
I smiled and layed my head on his shoulder.
"Hey Pete."
He was rambling.
"I though you were dead..you never responded to my calls or messages and-and-"
"Wait..you called me?"
"Yesh..you had your phone on silent,didn't you."
I turned a little red.
"...Mayyyyybbbeeeeee."
Peter just giggled.
"Whatever..i'm happy you're alive."
He hugged me tighter.
I decided to lighten the mood.
"Yeah,so am i."
Natasha and Bruce had cleared out after Peter hugged me,sensing their part was over.
Peter had one more thing to say.
"Hey..what happend to you in manhattan anyways?"
I just shrugged.
"I'll tell you later."
I seperated from Peter.
I started to run off after hearing the school bell ring.
"C'mon,let's go!
Peter jogged after me.
"Hey,wait up!"
I giggled.

Freeze-frame on a shot of Peter jogging after Caleb,and Caleb giggling as he runs off.

I AM SO HAPPY.
This took..forever to finish...but i'm happy with it.
I loved writing every line of these chapters..and i'm writing a sequel..eventually.
You'll see what i have in mind.
Also,don't ask why i did the credits and shit like it's a movie...felt like it was a nice touch..i may take them out later on.
Finally...HOLY SHIT,I FINALLY FINISHED IT!
