I dread staring at the mirror

Afraid of the reflection of the past

A rearview of both pain and darkness

A reminder of what I used to be

A wonderer in the wilderness of living dead

Alas!

How I wish I could just see it shutter

But they tell that it doesn't matter

To hold on to what we used to be

For it has no label of meaning

Define the best versions of ourselves

So why does it come back to us

Whenever we try to bury it in the deep ends?

Why does it resurface just choke the little we have

Happiness we struggled to search for and earn?

Why does it hurt to recall a slight mistake

Posing a heavy load on our souls?

Why does it feel Vogue to smile away,

To blend in with the normals and live on?

Fail to understand why it hurts to see the scars

The healed scars that still glow the truth

why?
