"A Sad Tale of Love"
He could never forget that blistering day
when he stood beneath the shade of a leafy tree.
Though it wasn't quite a place for a romantic rendezvous
but wherever fate willed, love was sure to grow.
It started when his eyes took a glimpse of her.
Surprisingly, the time had the sun most fair
so the film reeled for these two people to tell their story
and, everything just happened just like in a movie.
It was not another 'Romeo and Juliet'
whose love ended in their tragic deaths
but rather a reality hoped to last a lifetime or two;
wishing that time stood still and today anticipated no tomorrow.
Everything, for a moment, remained uncompromised.
Their love seemingly perfect, smooth and nice.
But though things might be sweet in the beginning,
love, as in some stories, had a tale in a sad setting
Doubts and distance had tainted ones faith
yet words unspoken left drifting in the air so quiet.
Time withered with the past
and the loving moments became brief, seeming not to last.
The love story, deemed for a place in forever,
was hurled into the unfortunate waves of nowhere.
Days had slowly stretched into weeks, months then years
yet he remained drowned in his unseen ocean of tears.
He still hadn't forget
how her sweet memory gave him no retreat.
How he wished to the past he could travel back
and re-examine what things in love he had lacked
that he might fill it
for their love story to be sealed by fate.
But alas
Too much time had passed
He'd heard she traded rings with another man
thus from his life, she'd be forever gone.
