"The Second Love"
You once told me that you are my destiny,
that you would always belong to me
because from the past, you were liberated
and, finally, I was the person to whom you were fated.
You once told me that I had glued your broken heart together
and, your love for me will be forever;
even the ghosts from your past,
when you were in my arms, crumbled into dust.
But your words weren't true
For you had decided to go
like a migratory bird
seeking temporary refuge when winter
invaded its real shelter.
Oh, you lied to me
Your kisses,
embraces,
promises
had all gone to waste
when you abandoned me.
But eventhough,
I would still like to know,
No matter how painful the truth would be,
when you were with me:
Were you feigning emotion
when we make love with a passion?
Were you lying
when you said it was me you were dreaming?
Were you seeing someone else
when you stared lovingly into my eyes?
Or was it nothing but a dramatic script
when sweet words came from your lips?
I tried to give you everything,
I have done anything
just to make you stay
and to prove you that I am the one
who was destined to you 'til eternity.
But my efforts were all in vain
and I was left to endure a shattering pain;
with a broken heart to serve as a memento
of how easily you let go
of our relationship
just because your first love
came back to claim the precious thing I thought I have:
Your Heart.
