(POV: Plug)

"89!" The Professor exclaimed. "89 total Hiders!" Today was census day. Once every half a year, E. Gadd always got all the ghosts together in order to carry out research. Every time he did this, the total amount of ghosts usually increased for unexplained reasons, but the main point is that he and the ghosts were getting on fine. Afterall, it had only been one year since Luigi restored the Dark Moon and King Boo was captured, creating peace across Evershade Valley. Everyone hoped that this peace would remain; I certainly did, anyway.

Oh! But who am I? I am Plug! Sorry, I obviously forgot to introduce myself. Back then, things were simple, but after this time of peace came disaster and chaos which simply cannot be ignored. Whilst it was a good time in Evershade Valley - a golden age - it is important to remember that everything good has to come to an end.

Whilst we can't communicate with the Professor directly, we can communicate with other ghosts through our own form of speech; it's no surprise to say that the Professor tried to change this, but failed massively. We can understand what he says, but it only goes one way. If necessary, we try to use sign language with him like we were said to do prior to the events of having no Dark Moon, but I'm not particularly sure how effective it actually is.

Legends say that the only ones who could translate from ghost to human were the old portrait ghosts; ghosts from Earth rather than ghosts who came from the paranormal dimension. We were told that they still had the ability to speak their original language as well as speak with us.

Boos were said to also have this ability, but they took our rights from us back in the day and nobody quite feels like forgiving them. In other words, they're all big meanies and they scare us all a little.

Still, it's kinda a bummer that both Mario and Luigi have never visited us. Over the year, a bunch of toads "retired" because they didn't like working with the ghosts who locked them in paintings. Which, I guess, is fair enough. The professor tried to hire yoshis too, but not much came of that except for expenses.

In recent news, E. Gadd got some older ghosts from storage as an experiment, introducing them to Evershade Valley, so there's an incredibly large amount of ghosts roaming the area! We were assured that the Dark Moon protects the dimension from collapsing from all the paranormal activity in the area, so that's good news. I hope. So basically there's a bunch of other ghosts who are from this other mansion that nobody has heard of; ghosts consisting of "purple punchers" and "gold ghosts" and others who I hadn't bothered to learn the names of yet.

Now hold up: you may be thinking, what type of ghost are you? Well, that's a silly question. Don't you remember that its census day?

"Ohoho!" The professor said as he got to me, shortly before he came to the conclusion that there were 89 Hiders. "You sure are one of a kind." Yes - sure - I am a Hider. But, according to E. Gadd, I'm not part of the 89. I'm the 90th, the different one. I'm the "sparked hider". I'm counted differently in the census. I am different. And...that's a good thing!

When I first existed, I knew that I was different. There's always been an electric pulse going through my body at all times. As the charge builds up, some electricity seems to escape through the tip of my tail or the weird horn on the top of my head.

Once the counting was over, we were set free and I went to the place I felt most comfortable: in the haunted towers. As I was just floating about, I came across a new ghost, one I honestly hadn't seen before. "Uh... Hello?" I questioned to this new encounter.

"Hi." The ghost replied swiftly. He appeared to be wearing a green cloak of some kind, which I found unusual and he had yellow eyes which helped me identify him as one of the old ghosts. He also had some sort of belt and it almost seemed like he was missing a mask based on some clips which weren't answered with anything. "I'm Rob. I'm a shy guy." He said after a short pause.

A shy guy? Very funny, I thought. Clearly, they were one of the newly introduced ghosts - the ones from that old mansion. Shy Guys are notorious for their mischief and alliance to Bowser. This ghost looked vaguely similar, so I then asked, "I've never seen a ghost like you. What are you?" I had no idea whatsoever that maybe Shy Guys could have dead forms or imitated in ghost form or they could be a huge mystery as to why things are the same and yet different.

Clearly annoyed, he repeated, "I'm a shy guy!" He looked me in the eye and I knew he wasn't telling a lie. A shy guy? I didn't know about them. I nodded before I wandered away through a wall. That didn't go too well, I thought to myself. That being said, it didn't really cross my mind too much after that, popping straight out my mind.
