As you read this work, be aware that I wrote it as a mix between a song and poem. You can sing it like a song, but it also works as a more traditional poem, albeit one with a full refrain. It was an interesting experience for me, and I hope the results are satisfying.

Kill me with kindness, but no motive
Sharpen all your knives again
Hide deep in my fallout bunker, so live
Worse off than I've ever been
I can feel the poison tear my skin
Just like door hinges to get in
Now I'm slurring words, and can't make sense
I'll retaliate first, my last defense
So come all you black sheep, for your cause is right
We'll be crashing like cannons at the Bastille tonight
The Reaper may blind us, but no fear when he finds us
Just open your heart, like you once did
To me
You're the unlikely aggressor, a ruins professor
Building me a temple of doom
Though lightning flashes, even a kidney stone passes
Out easier than me in your room
And there's never warning of an incoming strike
Just barge in, make my crippled heart take a hike
As you burn down my home, I'm still watching the throne
Dreading your words like my last open mic
So come all you black sheep, for your cause is right
We'll be crashing like cannons at the Bastille tonight
The Reaper may blind us, but no fear when he finds us
Just open your heart, like you once did
To me
No hope for peace
No peace in war
I'm catching fire
My lungs are sore
And my broken bones cry out for more
So come all you black sheep, for your cause is right
We'll be crashing like cannons at the Bastille tonight
The Reaper may blind us, but no fear when he finds us
Just open your heart, like you once did
To me
