"Hey Lucas?" I stopped recognizing Ness at once "Hmm?" I replied, not turning. Ness moved in front of me and met my eyes. Violet...what a spectacular color. "Can I come over sometime?" I blinked "Come over?" I asked in a harder tone then I first realized. Ness shrunk a little, but he let his question hang in the air. "Sure," I replied. Ness smiled from ear to ear " Really?! Oh man that's so rad! When do you think?" He sounded very much so like an excited toddler. However, I felt it was more endearing because it was Ness. "Anytime really, my father works during the day, but he usually doesn't mind when Claus has people over."
"Claus?"
Oh dear...it had never occurred to me that maybe I didn't tell him about my family. I brushed a hand through my hair and nodded, "Yes, Claus, my twin brother." Ness let out a gasp, "You're  a twin!!? Wow that's so cool!! I have so many questions-"
I cut him off by placing my finger on his lips "Shhh, no, we don't have 'special twin powers' or whatever you'd call it." I felt Ness frown, and I pulled my hand away. "I'm sorry you had to find out this way." I hummed dramatically throwing my arm over my eyes. Ness giggled " It's alright!" He replied. "I'll see you later then," I said putting my arm down. Ness nodded "Looking forward to it!" He said then dashed in the direction of his home. I watched him leave, feeling a bounciness in my feet. That feeling lasted the rest of the day.

It was dinnertime now, and I found it hard to focus on my food and much easier to stare out the window. "Lucas?" I snapped my eyes towards Claus "You okay?"
"Wha-? Yes, yes, I'm alright." I replied clearing my throat. Claus and my father exchanged a peculiar expression. "So how was school today?" I blinked in surprise at my father. He'd never been the one for talking about our days. "It was fine, did the same thing I always do." I said fiddling with my fork. "That reminds me," I spoke up "My friend Ness wanted to know if he could come over, I assume it wouldn't be a problem?"
"Of course not, I don't mid friends." He rumbled. Claus placed his hands on the table " What is going on here!!" He shouted, making me jump and father turn sharply. "What do you mean?" I questioned. Claus scowled "You're acting really weird!" I am? I furrowed my brows. "Yeah, you're acting all dazed and now you have a friend that I never even knew about." Claus huffed. I waited for him to finish his fit before I continued "It's just a friend, Claus. And I'm a little fatigued today." I replied. That seemed to satisfy him because he didn't bring it up afterwards. 🍬
