Chapter 15: The Rumble Returns

(Sunday, Royal Rumble)

Tonight was the beginning on the Road to WrestleMania with the men and women's Royal Rumble matches, along with championship matches made by the Corporation:

Travis Sharp (c) vs. Batista - Intercontinental Championship

The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) (c) vs. The Corporation (Shinsuke Nakamura and Andrade) (with Zelina Vega) - SmackDown Tag Team Championship

AJ Styles (c) vs. Baron Corbin - United States Championship

Ember Moon (c) vs. Lacey Evans - SmackDown Women's Championship

Becky Lynch (c) vs. Nikki Bella (with Brie Bella) - Raw Women's Championship

Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Drew McIntyre - WWE Championship

Chase Destiny (c) vs. Bobby Lashley - Universal Championship

Travis was mentally and physically ready for his title match against the Animal. Billie gave him a good luck make out session.

Billie: be careful, baby

Travis: this is Batista we're talking about, but I'm gonna give him hell

The American Nightmare left after the Femme Fatale gave him a good luck kiss.

(In the ring)

For the first time ever, Travis Sharp goes one on one with Batista for the Intercontinental Championship. After both men made their entrances, Travis stepped up to Batista showing no fear in his eyes. Then the two men locked up.

(Match highlights)

Both men went back and forth with Travis having blood coming out from his mouth and Batista showing signs of bruising; the American Nightmare went on the offense, but Batista countered with a spinebuster, but only good for a two and a half count as Travis got his shoulder up.

Travis caught the Animal with a superkick, and measures him for the Panama Sunrise; he attempts it, but the Animal used his strength to counter with a back body drop. As Travis went to his feet, Batista speared the American Nightmare. The Animal did his thumbs up thumbs down taunt. He got Travis up for the Batista Bomb, but some how Travis dug down deep and kicked out. Batista was getting frustrated; he picked Travis up for another Batista Bomb, but the American Nightmare countered and hits the Animal with Sharp Attack. He dragged his body and put his arm on the Animal for the three count, retaining his Intercontinental title.

(Backstage)

Travis walked to the locker room in his own power, where he was met by the group. Billie rushed up to him.

Billie: babe, you're bleeding

Travis: it's fine, it's the scars of war

Billie: you almost scare me

Travis: but I still retained

Billie: come on, let me wipe the blood off your mouth

The next match was for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship as New Day members Xavier Woods and Big E defends against the Corporation members Shinsuke and Andrade. The Kingdom watched this silver platter match.

Dario: again, instead of putting actual tag teams, they put two Superstars who are better off as singles competitors
