Tom POV:

The lights in the diner were calm and warm. In fact the whole atmosphere was delightfully relaxing. Despite the ruckus of the clashing of cutlery on plates and the hum of chatter ringing around the place, it was quite peaceful. And after my day at work, I needed peaceful. We were shown our table on one of the no doubt once crimson red booths but had now withered down to a more blood-like colour. Still, oddly comforting. The boys were going on about god knows what whilst I, stayed happily in my head dreaming about a meal I have well and truly earned. As we sat, staring mindlessly at the menus since we had all already decided what to order long before we arrived, the topic of conversation landed on today's events.

Harry: It was so cool how they shot that scene. They had you dangling off a damn roof!

Haz: I know right, can't wait to see that in the movie.

Sam: That scene is going to be awesome.

Tom: Yeah well let's just hope it made it into the movie, otherwise I would have gotten a massive headache for nothing.

We chuckle and they continue to blabber on about which stunt was the coolest or which prop they were planning to steal at the end of production. But me, I just observed the diner a bit more. The floors were swept to immaculate standards, the tables kept perfectly polished, each accessorised with salt and pepper shakers and napkins. It smelt homely too. You're not bombarded with the overwhelming scent of every single dish they have on the menu, but rather it all collected up into a single smell of sweetness that hung in the air. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it was certainly very pleasant. Like a breath of fresh air even though we were indoors. My thoughts drowned out my brothers and Harrison's conversations, but the sound of the jingle of a bell as the door was pushed gently open darted my attention towards it. And a girl in black distressed jeans and a loose top walked in, holding the hand of a smaller boy with a dark grey raincoat. I don't want to be cliché, but that would be near impossible if I am to describe what I felt when I saw this girl. Her hair flowed freely yet neatly against her back as the waves that lived in them bounced up and down with each step she took. And her spellbindingly contagious eyes that made you crave for their attention, made me well up in sadness when I couldn't catch them. Something about the way her beauty seemed to radiate in a ten mile radius around her, or the way she walked into the diner, or the way she smiled so sweetly and innocently at the waitress standing on the other side of the counter made my eyes almost inseparable from her. And I wasn't mad about it, until Harrison snapped me back into reality and in that brief moment I looked away, I seemed to have lost her.

Haz: What are you staring at?

Tom: Nothing, nothing.

It was like her and the boy disappeared. I was frustrated with myself that I didn't manage to see where they went. Maybe they came in and decided to eat elsewhere? But I didn't want to believe that since it meant I would be very unlikely to ever see her ever again. But alas, she appeared for me again. This time with an apron around her waist and her hair restrained back in a messy ponytail. She works here, interesting. The little boy followed out and I watched as he sat down in a stool opposite the counter to where she was stood.

Y/n POV:

Y/n: You remember our rules?

Noah: No talking to strangers, no wondering off, no going anywhere without you knowing or seeing, I know the rules, we go over them every time.

Y/n: Well I want to be on the safe side, thanks for the attitude.

He giggled and pulled out his Rubik's cube from his backpack. I leant on the counter as he looked up at me, his innocent little brown eyes staring so hopefully into mine as if they could find all the answers he could possibly desire in them. But I don't want to build up false hope for him, so I look down at the counter and speak.

Y/n: I'm sorry I had to work today, I was actually planning on taking you to the museum, there's a new exhibition I thought would be cool.

Noah: It's okay you don't need to apologise you know?

Y/n: I know, I just feel bad that I have to drag you out here for hours.

Noah: I don't mind. Honestly, I don't. And the exhibition sounds awesome, we can just go another time, when you're not busy.

Y/n: Yeah...we can. I have to go work, promise me you'll stick to our rules?

Noah: I promise.

He says as he jokingly holds his hand up to his heart and I ruffle his hair kissing his cheek as I make my way over to a table of boys by the window.

Tom POV:

My hands started sweating when I saw her walk over. I've been in countless nerve racking interviews in my lifetime, none of them equate to the level of stress I was feeling in those moments. She walked over so gracefully it was as if she was gliding on the floor. Look at me, I'm even complementing the way she walked. What the hell has gotten into me? She stood in front of us, her arms hugging her body as she smiled gently at us before speaking.

Y/n: Hey are you guys ready to order?

And for some reason, she looks at me. The worst possible thing she could've done, because my throat seemed to have closed up and my mind completely erased.

Tom: I..uhh...

Is all I manage to stutter out. Everyone just looks at me utterly confused, and I hear her laugh softly.

Y/n: I guess I'll give you guys a couple more minutes.

And she turns and walks away. I cover my face with my hands to hide my embarrassment, and the boys do nothing to comfort me and just laugh at my misery instead.

Haz: Good one mate.

He pats my shoulder and chuckles. I look back up to find her but she's busy tending to another table's needs as she whisks away their plates and carries them effortlessly into the kitchen. Another waitress eventually takes our order and of course I have no trouble speaking now. But the entire meal I was hardly focusing on my table, because I was only interested in what she was doing. You know it's kind of weird. The way I was feeling without even knowing her name was...indescribable. I know I'm meant to be the movie star, but god was I starstruck.
