Chris's POV
A smile broke out across my face as I watched my friends try to shove each other into the pool. Ricky and Ryan were always such idiots that I wasn't surprised when they both fell into the water.
TJ came running over from where he was on the phone with his cousin. "Ray's coming over!"
I had never met Ray. I thought about my old friend, Raven, but she would never let anybody called her Ray. What would the odds be, anyway? She knew my guitarist? Psh, no.
Ricky grinned and asked, "is she hot?"
"That's my cousin, man!" TJ yelled jokingly.
If it's Raven, then hell yeah, she's hot.
But it's not Raven. Nobody will ever be Raven.
We all sat around, waiting for her and our drummer's fiancee, Kelly. She was pretty different from the rest of us, but she was nice. She made Angelo happy, and that's all that matters.
An hour or so passed. Kelly was here and now we were waiting on Ray. An old, black, Chevy pulled into Ryan's driveway, and TJ jumped up. A tall girl got out, standing at about 5'9 ... just like Raven.
Goddamnit, Chris! It's not Raven!
The woman walked up to us with grace. She had big black sunglasses, very similar to mine, and black and white hair. She looked like Cruella Deville, or our bass player, Devin.
"Sorry I'm late," she apologized. Her voice was angelic. It was like windchimes.
Her dress hugged her body tightly. She had a perfect hourglass shape. The black dress wasn't afraid to show that. It was tight the whole way down to the waistline, and then it fanned out.
She took of her sunglasses and shook her hair back behind her shoulders. When she looked up, I saw those drawn-on eyebrows, those grey eyes, the perfect nose, and the full lips coated in black lipstick.
I saw her.
Raven's POV
"So, introduce me, Teej?" I asked him.
He chuckled at my tone and pointed to each band member. "Devin, Ricky, Ryan, Angelo, Balz, and Chris."
Chris.
No way in hell was Christipher Thomas Cerulli sitting in front of me. I hadn't seen him in years. Not since I ... nevermind that. I turned back to TJ when he started talking again.
"I used to play guitar for them, but I left the band. We remained as friends and now we're catching up," he explained.
I nodded, trying not to look at Chris. "Fun."
"Do you have your bathing suit?" Ricky asked me from inside the pool.
I nodded. "Of course I do. Where's the bathroom?"
"I'll show you," Chris offered.
I clenched my teeth together a managed a curt, "thank you." I knew he just wanted to ask me a million questions.
He was quiet until we got to the bathroom door. He reached out a grabbed my arm. "I'm not gonna ask you anything, Raven. I just want to know if we can catch up over dinner? Tomorrow?"
I bit the inside of my bottom lip to try to fight away the tears and memories that were trying to come back. "I'll have to check my schedule. I'm a pretty busy person. I'll let you know."
I turned around and took one step before he said, "oh, and Raven? I've missed you."
I closed my eyes tightly, bit my lip harder, and let one tear fall down my face before closing the bathroom door.
I've missed you too, Chris.
Sorry for that abrupt POV change in the middle of the chapter.
