Months had gone by. It was only a few days until Ruby was able to start working.
Arrangements were made. She was to be living with Emma Lee, she would work under Minerva Crosby, her coworkers would be Emma Lee, and Watson. There were a lot of names for her to remember.
"So, Jonsie," Emma asked, helping Jones pack a box. "You ready to start working?"
She nodded. "Yeah. It's about time I actually do something around here,"
Emma laughed. "Yeah, it was probably pretty boring not being able to do anything,"
Jones continued to pack a box. Then something came back to her. Another memory. "Hey, I remember something!"
"What is it?!"
"The microwave,"
"What?" Emma looked confused. "What about the microwave?"
"I remember when I first got one,"
"When was this ?"
"I don't know. When did microwaves come out?"
Emma shrugged. "50s, 60s, maybe?"
For a moment Jones remembered something. Some details. But as soon as she remembered them, they escaped. It was like trying to remember a dream.
"Alright, that's the last box," Emma said.
Ruby snapped back into reality. "Oh, nice,"
"Where did you get all of this stuff anyway?"
"Well..." Jones looked at a box of clothes. "Mostly online shopping. Can't believe I went 200 years without it,"
They both laughed.
"Well, after you get hired, wanna go out?"
"Go out...?"
Emma realized what she said. "No, not like that. I mean, go out with some friends and stuff," she shrugged, "Like Bright, Watson Konny, some others, and I. We go once a month,"
"Oh sure! That'd be fun!" Jones smiled. She finally had a friend.
