Minerva Crosby entered the meeting room. There was only one other person in there.
"'Ello, Minnie!" Clef said, grinning.
Minerva nodded stiffly. "Clef. It's... nice... to see you again,"
"Leave the bullshitting to me, dear,"
She sighed. "We're getting off task,"
"Hmm. Yes, yes we are," Clef spun around in his chair. "Is she bothering you again?"
"No, not at the moment-"
"So why are you here?"
"You didn't let me finish," she sounded irritated. "I can feel her. She's planning something. Something big,"
"How do you know?"
"We have a strong bond. We feel each other's thoughts and emotions,"
"Okay... so how do we stop her?"
Minerva stayed silent.
"Minnie, how did we do it last time?"
"We didn't. I just locked her away. There is no way to stop her,"
Clef's eyes widened. "Oh boy. This'll be tough. You showing any symptoms yet?"
Minerva shook her head. "No. But I think it's time we start looking for the Angel,"
Clef stopped smiling. "No. That means that you'll have to die. I won't allow it,"
"Clef..."
"Minerva, we may not get along all the time but that doesn't mean I want you dead,"
"It might be the only way,"
"Well I sure as hell hope it doesn't come to that,"
It almost took Minerva by surprise when Clef said he didn't want her dead. They hadn't gotten along with each other for years.
"We'll burn that bridge when we get to it," Minerva said. She smiled slightly, a rarity.
Clef checked his watch. "Ah shit. How is it already 6? Wasn't it just 1:30 a moment ago?"
Clef and Minerva looked at each other. "This is your doing," they said in unison.
"Clef, I'm not a reality bender,"
"Hm. You're right,"
"Whatever. You've got a date, don't you?"
"Not exactly..."
"Whatever. Don't want you to be late. See you next month?"
Clef nodded. "See you next month,"
Then Clef left.
