LIGHTNING

The way things were, how they shocked me,
Left me unhappy with murderous anxiety.
I couldn't count the times situations gave me a jolt;
But I could tell you the times my life came to a screeching halt.
It happened often but I remember each time;
Each time the lightning struck me at the drop of a dime.

So when these issues came to light,
My entire body shook with fright.
I didn't  know what to do so I'd sit there and cry;
Praying for the day to come when I'd die.
My sanity took a big hit each time,
Each time the lightning struck me at the drop of a dime.

The lightning would hit me like a ton of bricks,
Frighten me into a corner and kill me with a couple kicks.
One to the neck and one to the face,
One more to leave me in an unhealthy place.
Lock me up in a mental institution,
So I don't blur our friendship with a lot of confusion.

Being struck was the pain in my everyday life,
Because the lightning cuts deeper than the sharpest knife.
Shocked and struck, over and over again.
A broken spirit so I pick up my favorite pen.
