Elsa was running late, as per usual.

Swinging herself around the banister at the bottom of the staircase, she hurried for her things.

"Morning Uncle Aaron." She puffed, running past him in the kitchen as he sat at the table. Aaron grinned at his niece, knowing all too well how she couldn't be on time for anything.

"Morning Elsa. Breakfast?"

"Got it packed." Elsa checked, patting her school bag. "Now, where are my-"

"Glasses?" Aaron held up her glasses case,  suppressing a grin.

Elsa grabbed her glasses and ran, out the door quickly. "Thank you, love you!" She shouted before closing the door.

Aaron laughed airily and sipped his daily morning coffee. "You too, Elsa."

"Mr Lahote... Your early?"

Unlike usual when Paul would saunter into class late, Paul was actually sitting in his seat 5 minutes early for class.

"Just eager to learn Mrs Shepard." That was not in fact why Paul was in class early today. It was that he wanted as much time as humanly possible with Elsa.

"Hm, I'm sure that's it."

His face lit up like a kid at Christmas when Elsa glided into the classroom. Other students walked in before and after her, but he could only help but to look at her.

He watched as she walked towards their desk, with her arms wrapped around her books, held tightly to her chest protectively. She sat down without so much of a look in his direction as she nervously fumbled with her things.

"Hi."

Elsa turned nervously to see Paul Lahote smiling at her genuinely. He just won't give up will he?

"Hi Paul." She couldn't help but to smile around him, and couldn't understand why. She barely knew him. But he was kind to her. Kinder than anyone else had been at this school.

"How are you? After yesterday, I mean."

"I'm okay, I'm used to it." Paul frowned when she said those words. He didn't like the idea of anyone picking on her, especially for something horrible that had happened to her.

"You shouldn't have to be though." Paul knew that if ever saw anyone hurting her, that he wouldn't be able to control himself. His anger had always been his biggest enemy but bringing Elsa into the mix now brought his protective nature to the max. "I won't let anyone mess with you okay?"

Elsa turned to look at Paul incredulously. "Why? Why me? You don't even know me Paul."

Paul smile gently, "But I want to. And, I think you deserve a friend around here." Despite Paul's feelings for her, he knew she wouldn't be ready to jump into a relationship. Not after what happened to her parents. Right now she needed a friend, and for now that would be enough.

As Paul smiled her, Elsa couldn't help but feel like he was chipping at her walls ever so slightly. After her parents died, she had built them so high, and no one had ever tried to chip them away.

"You know, you really are something, aren't you Lahote?" Elsa smirked.

"You have no idea baby." Paul winked, enjoying how pink now tinted her cheeks.

He watched as she flushed at the latter nickname, quickly becoming flustered. Her hands quickly found the pen in her hand extremely interesting as her eyes widened and her mouth gasped open slightly in shock. The poor girl evidently wasn't used to compliments very often.

"Eh-um..." Elsa huffed out an awkward giggle, a smile etched on her face.

"Have I got you blushing blondie?" Paul continued to tease playfully. "Do I make you nervous?"

"No! You- you make me...confused!"

"Confused?"

"Yes confused!" Elsa turned to see small still staring at her, with the corners of his lips curving upward. "And stop smirking at me!"

"Why does it turn you on?" Paul could only laugh when Elsa gasped, looking at him incredulously.

The rest of the class Paul watched as Elsa focused on the teacher in front, but occasionally glancing at him out of the corner of her eye.

By the time class was over, Paul noticed she didn't pack up her stuff as quickly as she normally did, instead pausing to wait for him.

"Where are you next?" She asked, surprising him with her confidence. Her face held a gentle smile which he couldn't help but return.

"I'm wherever you are Elsa."
