You're in love with your best friend.

At least, that's what you think you feel. With all the articles you've read online and the little observations made by your group of friends that both of you chose to laugh off, you're starting to think they had been right all along.

Maybe you are in love with Jung Jaehyun.

But who isn't? Everyone in school is practically infatuated him; fawning over his looks when he passes by, blushing at every interaction they get with him, cheering obnoxiously loud at his games. The amount of love letters and confessions he receives are hilariously astounding and it's always a blast to watch him stutter in flattery, but mostly bashfully, as he tries to let them down easily.

The difference between you and the rest of the school populace is that you're the childhood best friend. You've lived beside each other before either of you were born. You've seen him at his worst and grossest points of his life; just enough to convince you that despite the image he projects to the public, he's really your average Joe.

Another possibility why you never thought about being anything more with Jaehyun was that you've treated each other like siblings. You're both single children and naturally, this made you bond even more growing up. Your parents were always extremely busy; your mother was a chemical engineer that had business abroad every other month while your dad was a seaman that only came home three months a year. Jaehyun's mother was a housewife, so she took care of you whenever your mom was on a trip. You can almost consider her as your best friend, too, with how young she looks. She often relies on you to tell her about the other thing's her son doesn't tell her about and it's always amusing to see her tell Jaehyun off when there's a particular story she would have opted to hear from him instead.

Jaehyun's mom is the reason why he has been single; she refused to allow him to date while he's still in high school and he doesn't dare try to defy her. She tries to instill the rule to you too, but is more lenient — probably because you're not technically her daughter. But if she finds out that you like Jaehyun, her son and your best friend, as more than just a friend, what would she do?

Before anything else, you need to be sure about your feelings about Jaehyun. You are not going to risk your current relationship with him for feelings you've misinterpreted. You need to think about this clearly, try to remember when everything changed for you; when the signs started to show that you are, in fact, in love with Jung Jaehyun.
