A couple months ago, our publisher gave Jack and I a couple of contracts and a fake story on how we're dating. She said it would be good publicity. Since we play boyfriend and girlfriend in our show, people ship us together. We've always just been friends though. Nothing real has ever happened between us as far as relationships go. But we all know how fake relationships turn out...
"Y/n!" A reporter called out "how are you and jack?"
"We're great, thank you. If you don't mind, I have a date to get to."
The 'date' was at Jack's house that way we didn't actually have to act like a couple. Yet lately I've felt butterflies when he puts his arm around me.
I got into my Uber and he drove me to Jack's. I texted him and told him I'd be there soon.
As I was paying the Uber, he spilled his coffee on my shirt.
"I'm sorry, it was an accident."
"It's okay, accidents happen." I smiled at him despite being upset.
I knock on Jack's door and he answered, knowing there were paparazzi around, he hugged me and let me in.
"There were more than usual today." He commented.
"Yeah. Can I borrow a shirt, my driver spilled coffee on me."
"Yeah. Go pick out whatever you want."
I smiled happily and walked into his room.
He quickly followed me, and grabbed something off his nightstand.
"What's that?" I asked, taking my shirt off and tossing it in his dirty laundry basket.
"Nothing." He stared at me, waiting for me to turn around.
"I'm not turning around." I stated and crossed my arms.
"You have to eventually."
I walked over to him and tried reaching for his hand, but whatever it was, he stuck it down his sweatpants.
"Jack, really?"
"Yes. Now get a shirt on."
I looked down at my new bra.
"Ooh! Look, I got this new bra and I was like, you know who'd love this? Me. I love it." I walked over to his closet and looked for something to wear.
I saw his black hoodie and put it on. I peeked out, and he was looking at whatever was in his hand, his back facing me.
I snuck up behind him and jumped on his back. He dropped whatever it was.
"Sneak attack!" I laughed and wrapped my arms and legs around him.
He laughed as well and fell back on the bed.
He helped me up and we went downstairs, forgetting about what he dropped.
"So, what do you want to do?" He asked.
"Well, I would love to just curl up and watch a movie, not a scary one though! No IT!"
"Come on, you don't like Eddie?" He joked.
"I love Eddie, he's adorable. The guy who plays him. Well..." I smiled, he knew I was messing around.
"I'm just kidding, you know I love you." I snuggled up to him on the couch, and he started rubbing my back.
"Jack."
"Yeah?" He mumbled.
"I think I started catching real feelings for you..." I admitted.
"You know we're just fake dating, right?"
"I know." I sighed. "I just wanted to tell you." My eyes started drifting close, quickly falling asleep.
I woke up in the middle of the night on his bed, him laying next to me.
I had to pee so I quietly put my feet on the floor, stepping on something.
I picked up a folded piece of paper.
Dear y/n, I know that I'll never actually show you this, but I feel like writing down is just as good. These past few months have been so fun with you, and being your fake Boyfriend has been fun and all, but I don't think I can do it much longer. I don't want to fake kiss in public or go on fake dates.
He's fake breaking up with me. If all of this was fake then Why does this feel real? Why is my sadness real?
I felt the tears stream down my cheek, but I couldn't stop them.
I lightly shook him awake.
"It's like 11 at night. Go to sleep." He mumbled and flipped over to face me, eyes still closed.
"Jack." My voice broke and his eyes shot open, he immediately sat up and hugged me.
"What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?" He was concerned
"No." He pulled back and saw the note in my hand.
"Oh..."
"You're fake breaking up with me? I thought we were having fun together. At least I was... and you acted like you were. What happened?"
"I don't want to be in a fake relationship with you, y/n. I don't like it." He started.
I whimpered as I cried. "What's wrong with it? The relationship. I-is it me?"
Why am I getting so upset over a fake relationship? I knew it would end eventually... but I didn't know that I'd start feeling this way for him.
"No, no, no. It's not you at all. I would much rather be in a real relationship than a fake one."
"W-with me? Or with someone else."
He was hesitant for a moment. "With you..."
"You want to be in a real relationship with me, not just for publicity?"
"Yeah. I think you're amazing and talented, beautiful, smart, nice, and even though it's fake, I love getting to kiss you in public. I just wanted it to be real and not set up by anyone."
I smiled softly. "Me too." I nodded and hugged him. "You're my best friend, and you mean everything to me, Jack. For me, It started out as fake but around a month in I started liking you and I had so much fun with you."
"Can I kiss you for real this time?"
I nodded. He leaned in and kissed my lips, holding it for a couple seconds. Things soon got hot and heavy.
"I'm so glad I get to call you my actual girlfriend now."
"Me too, baby." I pecked his lips, we cuddled up under the blankets, and fell asleep in each other's arms.
