Meeting the guys for the first time was crazy for Julie, but really cool for me.

"Wow you're all really cute. Hi, I'm y/n." I smiled and waved.

"Luke. What are you doing in our studio?" The brown haired one spoke up. Clearly he's the leader.

"This is our studio. Who are you guys you look familiar?"

"We're Sunset Curve." Luke spoke again with a smile.

"No way! I used to listen to y'all's album all the time growing up with mom."

"Then how come we only just now got here?"

"I don't know. But this is so cool. How's you guys die?"

"We don't talk about it." Luke got serious.

"Street Hotdogs." Reggie smiled.

Luke and I made eye contact for a minute before I looked away.

"Well I am gonna go check on my sister Julie and see if she's okay." I left without another word and went to find her.

"Hey Alex can I talk to you for a second?" I asked from the studio door.

"Uh yeah." He nodded. Alex and I walked outside and sat on the ground.

"What's up?"

"I'm worried about Luke. He's been really down today and he's been ignoring me. Is he okay?"

"It's his birthday." He explained. "I'm surprised he hasn't visited his parents yet"

I nodded. "Thank you. I'll try talking to him again."

Alex nodded before standing up and us both walking back in there.

Alex got Reggie out of the studio.

"What's going on?" Luke asked me.

"Alex told me it was your birthday. It's not done but I guess today is as good a time as any." I pulled out a sheet of paper with some lyrics on it.

"I got a bad boy, I must admit it
You got my heart, don't know how you did it
And I don't care who sees it babe
I don't wanna hide the way I feel when you're next to me
I love the way
I love the way
Baby, I love the way
Ooh, I love the way."

I sang as I played the piano.

"That's a beautiful song. Not really our type of music though."

"It's not for the band, Luke." I bit my lip nervously as I looked at his face.

I saw him realize the song was for him. He quickly stood up and walked to the other side of the piano.

"That's not- I don't- we can't."

I sighed. "I'm sorry. I thought it would boost your mood." I closed my book and started walking out.

I passed Alex and Reggie in my living room and went to my room.

I locked the door and immediately started crying.

After about twenty minutes of me crying, I felt the bed dip next to me. I looked up to see Alex.

I wanted so badly for him to hug me but he couldn't. Instead I hugged my pillow as he laid next to me.

I woke up the next morning and decided to ignore last night and be friends with Luke. I got all of my tears out with Alex.

Band rehearsal was awkward that day, and for the next couple days. But it eventually got back to normal. I had been keeping my distance from Luke besides when we perform.

We were alone in my room writing songs.

I was sitting up in my bed and he was sitting in my bean bag chair.

"What about 'I believe, I believe that we're just one dream away from who we're meant to be.'?" I suggested.

"And we're standing on the edge of great." He sang lightly.

"It's perfect." He smiled and stood up, sitting next to me. I quickly stood up and walked over to my dresser, standing up against it.

His eyes rows scrunched together in confusion.

"Why'd you move?" He stood up. I shrugged without a word. "Am I making you uncomfortable? If so I'm sorry-"

"You're fine, Luke. I don't wanna talk about it."

"Are you afraid of me or something?" He chuckled nervously.

"I'm not afraid of you, I just want to write the song and you can go back to the studio or something."

He got closer and held my hand softly. "Are you okay? I mean seriously. Is something wrong?"

"Y-you rejected me, Okay? So you can't hold my hand. You can't look at me the way you do and expect me to not like you."

"Oh. It's that."

"Yes Luke, it's that. You don't have to sound so fucking disappointed." I rolled my eyes and stormed out of my own room, going outside to breathe.

I went to the studio loft and laid in the bed up there for a while. I just laid there and listened to Alex and Reggie's conversation about giraffes.

"Guys, I know I'm supposed to be the one getting all the girls-"

"Hey!" Reggie interrupted Luke.

"But I keep blowing it with y/n. I don't want to, but it's gonna be so hard being with a person who's still alive."

"Since when do you like y/n? She was just crying to me a few weeks ago about how you rejected her."

Luke sighed "I had to. I'm dead, Alex. We can't even touch. Not unless we're singing together. At least you and willie can touch each other."

"Touch isn't everything in a relationship."

"Well it would be nice, Alex. I can't have a relationship with someone I can't touch. That's just me. Plus, even if we could touch, I'm in a band dude, why should I settle down before the party even starts?"

Tears pricked my eyes. I couldn't even leave without them knowing I was here.

"Dude." Alex gave Luke a look. "Don't start with your ego again. Remember last time."

I accidentally let out a whimper and a sniffle. "Is someone up there?" Luke called out.

I stood up and ran down the stairs while covering my mouth to silence myself. I ran out and down the street to the beach.

I sat alone in an area where no one else was and cried a little bit.

"How could you let yourself get hurt by a ghost?"

I spent hours on the beach before going back home. As soon as I got to the front porch, Luke appeared.

"Y/n, listen-"

"Fuck you, Luke. Shouldn't you be off partying?" I asked sarcastically

"I like you, I swear I do-"

"No you don't. And don't stand here and tell me that you do. If you liked me then you would be with me right now. I understood the whole 'human ghost' thing. But you didn't have to be a fucking asshole." I started tearing up again.

"Y/n I'm so so so so so sorry. I don't expect anything from you. I'll even quit the band."

"You can't quit, we need you." I wiped away my fallen tears.

"You can officially replace me-"

"You're not quitting the band. It's your unfinished business, not mine. I love the band too much to quit so this, anything we had going on between us, is over. We're strictly band mates."

I went inside and to my room for the night. Lowkey hoping Luke would come back.
