(A/N Just so you guys know, I came up with the names for the Washington kids parents before I knew what they were and decided to leave that way. Anyway onto the story. . .)

Still Nine Hours Until Dawn. . .
I was still standing with Josh by the fireplace. He hasn't gotten the fire going yet. And he is still making jokes about him being able to get me warm. I'm starting to think that just maybe - he's not making jokes. What if he is serious? Mike and Jess were now sitting on the couch snuggling. No wonder Adelina hates being around them.
"Oh my gosh, that is so gross, are you trying to swallow his face whole?" Emily asked Jess as she walked into the room.
"Em," Matt said to her trying to stop something before it even started.
"Seriously, can she be any more obvious? - No one wants in on your territory honey," Emily said looking at Jess again.I said nothing, but I know that's not true. However, I guarantee Adelina would actually make Mike happy. Instead of just being there for sex.
"Excuse me -"Jess stood from the couch, walking in the direction of Emily.
"Did you say something?" Jess asked her.
"Oh, did you not hear me, - was your sluttiness too loud?"
"Sounds like someone's bitter she didn't make the cut,"
"Yeah, it's all a big cattle call with that top dreamboat, congrats your top cow,"
"Cuts real deep calling Miss Homecoming a cow,"Matt walked closer to them. Matt was trying to talk to Emily.
"Em, come on -"She interrupted him:
"Shut up, Matt-"Matt deserves better than her.
"Stay out of it, you dumb oaf," Jess spoke to Matt.
"Hey, watch it!" Emily warned Jessica.
"Oh you're the only one who can put him down? No one else can play with your toys?"
Jessica said to her irritated.
"You're such a witch!" Emily snapped.
"Whatever. I don't give a crap what you think,"
"At least I can think. 4.0, witch, honor roll. Suck on that when you're trying to sleep your way into a job,"
"Who needs grades when you've got all the natural advantages you can handle?"
"Oh please,"
"You couldn't buy a moldy loaf of bread with your skanky a**,"
"Are you serious? Do you think that's insulting?"
"That witch is on crack or something,"Matt was getting tired of Emily and Jess fighting. Honestly, so was I. I was hoping this weekend could be filled with fun - without running into any of those creatures.
"Emily! Stop! This is out of hand. There's no reason to fight like this!" Matt spoke to her trying to defuse the situation.
"Yeah, Em! Why you pickin' fights over your ex boyfriend? Huh?" Jess asked her.
"I'm about to get right up in your business you witch-"
"Are we about to get real? Cause I am down to get real,"Jessica walked closer to Emily ready to fight her. Even Josh was getting annoyed, and he looked a little mad. He stood from kneeling on the floor.
"STOP IT! This is not why we came up here. This is not... helping. It's not what I wanted. If we can't get along for ten minutes then maybe we need a little bit of a break, right? Mike - why don't you check out the guest cabin. The one I told you about," Josh said to them.
"Yeah... Yeah, alright -"Mike looked at Jess.
"Want to go do that?" Mike asked her.
"Any place without that whore," Jess responded.
"It's right up the trail," Josh told them.Mike nodded to him. Him and Jess left the cabin. Well, at least that's over.
"Phew! ... Glad that's over!" Matt stated.Josh walked back over to the fire place.
"Yeah," Josh agreed.Matt walked over to me and Josh.
"So Josh... Uh, should we get this fire going?" Matt asked him.Emily walked over to her luggage.
"Where's my bag?" Emily asked looking at her stuff.
"Huh?" Matt was confused.
"My bag! The little bag with the pink pattern! The one I got on Rodeo!" Emily told him.Matt said nothing to her
"Matt are you listening? -"He still didn't say anything.
"Oh my gosh, don't you remember? Next to the Italian shoe place where I got the stilettos and you knocked over the rack while you were drooling all over that girl at the counter?"Matt walked closer to Emily.
"Well, I mean, she was asking about my letter jacket-"
"Right. Because she gave a crap about your "designer" letter jacket,"
"Why do you hate my jacket?"
"MATT I need MY BAG!"I rolled my eyes listening to their conversation.
"Oh my gosh Em, maybe you just forgot it-"
"Do you seriously think I'd forget my bag?"
"Well, I-"
"Do you?"
"Guess not,"
"You must have left it down by the cable car station,"
"Ugh!"I leaned closer to Josh.
"Matt seems frustrated," I said to him quietly so only he could hear.
"Wouldn't you be?" He asked looking at me.I nodded.
"C'mon hon, We'll be back soon," Emily told Matt.
"And then we can get warm?" Matt asked her.
"We can get very warm," Emily replied.'Oh, brother' I thought to myself. I looked at Matt as he said to Emily:
"Okay, okay, let's go."Her and Matt left the room. I wanted to tell them not to leave but they wouldn't believe the reason why. I want to do everything my father taught me. I want to protect the people I care about - especially Josh; but how am I supposed to protect them, if I can't tell them what I'm protecting them from.
"Okay, well -"I pushed myself off of the wall I was leaning against.
"I'm gonna go take a bath," I said to the friends that remained in the room.Josh turned to look at me.
"Are you sure you dont want to -"
"Josh, - no" was all I said to him before walking up the stairs.Though one of these times, if he keeps asking me, I might just say yes. I want to get close to him. To show him I love him, the only thing holding me back is his current state; but if he keeps asking, we might both be in trouble.
