Three Hours Until Dawn

4:01 a.m.

A scream sounded near the cabin, it sounded like Emily.
"Ah, frick," I said to myself.

I knew this was going to happen. Both Mike and Josh looked at the open door.
"Oh crap, what now?" Mike asked frustrated.

Mike turned to leave the shed. I waited until I knew he was gone. I rushed out to Josh. I kneeled down in front of him. He was so lost inside his own head he didn't even realize I was there. It brought tears to my eyes to see him like that.
"Josh -"

He did nothing.
"Josh, hey -"

He still did nothing.
"Hey, chipmunk, hey -"

I put my hands on the side of his face softly. I heard a far off scream, but it didn't sound to far off. I quickly turned my head to look out the door. Nothing was there, but I know it's coming.
"Crap!"

I turned my head to look back at Josh.
"Josh, baby, hey, - Josh, baby, please look at me, -"

He was still mumbling. I sighed as I looked at him. In a split second I connected my lips to his in hopes that he would come back to reality. My heart started to beat a thousand times faster as I felt him kiss me back. Now that's a feeling I've been waiting years for. I smiled softly as I leaned back from him. He looked directly at me.
"Asia?" Josh asked softly as I used my hand to stoke his hair, by his ear, softly.
"Hey, -"

I felt tears come to my eyes as I looked at him.
"I - I'm sorry," Josh said to me innocently.
"Shhh, baby, don't worry about that now, let's just get you out of here," I said to him.

I took a small knife from my back pocket, walking around, I started to cut the rope.
"Thanks for lying to try and save me back there," Josh said to me.
"Huh?" I asked confused.
"What you said to Mike and Chris, to try and stop them,"
"Oh -"

I took the ropes off of him, walking around to the front of him, helping him stand up.
"I wasn't lying, -"

Josh looked at me.
"What?" He asked confused and a little afraid.
"It wasn't a lie hon, it's all true, -"
"But -"

A Wendigo scream sounded, causing me to quickly turn my head to the direction of the door. It was a lot closer than it was a few minutes ago. A sudden fear crossed my eyes.
"What was that?" Josh asked fearful.
"That was a Wendigo, - come on we have to go -"

I started to lead him out the back way.
"We'll go out the back door," I said to him.

I took his hand in mine, squeezing gently leading him out the back. I was deathly afraid of facing one of these creatures, but I knew I could protect him. When it comes to protecting those that I love, I don't care what I have to do. Once we were outside, I started to run Josh through the woods, until I knew it was safe to walk. He seemed a little calmer now. I still held his hand. I didn't want to let go. I don't think he did either. For a minute I didn't know what to say.
"Josh?" I spoke up in my silence.
"Yes, Firefly?" Josh asked softly.

My stomach fluttered as I heard that coming from him. I never thought I would ever hear that again. That's something I love coming from him. Josh is the only one who has ever been able to call me that. He's the only one that ever will.
"When -"

I took in a breath, letting it out softly. Josh held my hand a little tighter.
"When you confessed to me earlier, d - did you mean it?" I asked nervously.

Josh didn't say anything as we continued walking. I noticed he was walking like his mind traveled and he couldn't walk a straight line. I held his hand a little tighter.
"W - when you told me y - you loved me?" I asked hoping to get the answer I wanted.
