After that episode, I swore that none of my children would ever attend private tutorial...never!!!
Mr. Fred left my home scot-free but it wasn't over. I started seeing him in my dreams. My best friend, Paul stood by me all through this period. He would call me every night to pray with me and teach me a few things as I wasn't attending tutorials anymore. We were also praying for him to gain admission. One night, at about 2 a.m., I had a dream where I saw myself struggling with Mr. Fred, who was attempting to rape me. Was it my brain playing tricks on me?
I woke up, sweating. I picked my phone to call Paul immediately, as he was the only one I could trust at this period.
"Jane," he said over the phone.
"I was just about to call you, dear. How are you?" he continued.
I held my phone, crying and shaking like a weather-beaten leaf. I couldn't say a word.
"Jane, hello! Are you there?" Paul called.
"Yes, I'm here Paul," I replied, crying.
"Are you alright? Crying again?" Paul asked.
"No, Paul. I'm not alright. I saw Mr. Fred in my dream; he was trying to rape me," I said.
Paul told me it was my brain playing tricks on me and that my brain was replaying all that has happened.
"Jane, you need to forget all that has happened in the past. You have to forgive yourself every day and every time. It's not your fault that those things happened. You need to stop thinking about it. Do you understand?" he said.
"Yes I do," I said.
Paul prayed with me that God would give me the strength to go through this phase of my life. We talked for about an hour that night before I went to sleep.
That year, I passed my final examinations with the help of my best friend. I learned to forget all that had happened, forgave Mr. Fred and moved on. The day I got my results, Paul called to tell me something.
"Janeeeeeeeee," he screamed over the phone.
I burst into laughter and asked, "Paul, why are you so excited?"
"I have great news," he said, enthusiastically.
"Ok, calm down. I have great news too but I want to hear yours first. What's up?" I said.
"Jane, I got the admission we have been praying for."
I screamed until tears dropped from my eyes. We waited two years for this and now it happened. I was happy that Paul could finally pursue his dreams of becoming a pilot. He deserved it and even much more; he was a wonderful friend. I also shared the news of my result with him. I couldn't have passed so well without him. That day ended with a smile on my lips.
