No school it was the weekend and there was no practice . I had a free day to talk to ashanti and my dad.

I got out of bed, took my shower, got dressed, fixed breakfast for me, my dad, and ashanti

The second I got done cooking my dad came down

"Hey sweetie" he said kissing me on the temple

" What's up daddy, I made breakfast for us"

"My nigga" he said laughing

I looked at him but decided to control my laughter

As he ate I just looked at him

"I know that look, what's on your mind sweet heart"

"It's nothing I just have to talk to you about something" I said rubbing my hands together

"What is it you can tell me" he said engaged into the conversation were about to have

Then ashanti walked in

"Carmen I'm hungry"

My dad stared at her wondering who the hell she was

"W-who is she?"

"This is Carmen , now before you go all haywire I want you to know that I found her on the side of the road by herself, she's 10 years of age and she is went threw ALOT that anyone should never have to go threw" I said with sincere in my eyes "yesterday me and a friend from track picked her up and took her to mcdonalds, then and there she told me about all the problems she has had at home with her parents , take note she is TEN FUCKING YEARS OLD" I said with tears coming out my eyes

That morning they ate and Carmen told her dad everything ashanti told her

"So that's why she's here, she has no where to go and I told her she can stay here, but I wanna know if that's going to be a problem with your liking"

He pulled ashanti up on his lap " I have no problem with her staying here, besides lil cutie here reminds me of you when you was young" he said pinching her cheeks while she giggled

"I also agree with you Carmen, no child or anybody should ever have to go threw What she went threw, just know baby girl that your safe and no one, I mean no one is going to hurt you due to me and Carmen being here, and once we get settled with everything I'm going to put you in self defense, you know what that is"

"Yes it's a class taken by people who would like to learn how to protect their selves from danger and dangerous things and or people"

"Your a little smart thing huh"

"Yea I love school,thats the only time I could escape from my parents and listen to people that actually wants to help me and see me grow up into a smart adult"

"What grade are you in"

" I was going to 4th grade but my teachers told me personally that I could skip to 5th grade if my parent or guardian comes in and talks to the school district"

"Wow... your a really intelligent girl, how about when you get settled in my house and your bruises heal up then well sign you back up for school, how does that sound"

Ashanti hopped off my dad's lap and took my hand running to my room
